Just realized that EWS is going to be at Sugarloaf, ME while I'm up there for vacation in 2 weeks! It's about an hour away so I'm gonna try to make it out to watch some of the race and do some of the group rides! Doesn't quite make up for missing Snowshoe but should be cool!

Anyone ever ridden Sugarloaf/ Carrabassett Valley trails?

Amazing! I need to bring the fly rod up to ID when I get a chance. Love fishing the Provo, but its so hard hit, those are some wary fish. Makes it hard to learn/improve.

You're not that far away. Even though the population of ID has blown up and a lot of my regular spots have been "discovered", there are still many, many places off the beaten path that hold fish that will take any dry fly you throw at it. I was lucky that day to have gotten the slam (Rainbow, Brown and Cutthroat). However, I'm still on the hunt for Arctic Grayling.

Didn't want to be left out this winter so purchased a fat bike - hopefully will mitigate the boredom that creeps in of using the trainer all winter long. We are pretty lucky to have groomed snow trails for fat biking near by, and the Town forest right next door allows snow mobiles which should open up miles more of trails to ride. Going to put on the stock non-studded front tire to rip around on until the winter weather hits.

Anybody ever carry your kids on a front mount seat? I'm talking like, 12 months old - not old enough for a shotgun or kids ride type seat.

Not looking to go down any lift service runs, just basic paved bike paths and maybe gravel.

I've been looking at the Thule Yepp Mini or the Thule Yepp Nexxt Mini.

I really want front mount, that's non-negotiable, but I'm not fully sold on these seats.

My biggest challenge is I don't have much room under the stem on either of my mountain bikes and the Nexxt requires 21mm below but the regular Yepp seems to have an adapter that will take much less... I don't know. I'm considering NBD to get something that works, but I'm trying to find some experienced people on the topic first.

Front mount seats are a very European thing, i guess, and not much info for a mountain bike out there.

I purchased the Thule Yepp mini Nexxt for my son at 1 yr & 2 months. He LOVED it. Everone one who's seen it has praised it, and wish they had one for their young'n when they were of age. My Sister inlaw just ordered the Mini original now that her daugther is 1.3 years. Its great. Best purchase I've made for my son regarding cycling. :101010:

I just installed the Shotgun set up for him on my bike. It'll take some getting used to but he had fun. Still perfers his Yepp seat.

    That's great to hear!

Have you seen the difference in the original and the Nexxt? Do they look like they fit the same or some other advantage of Nexxt over the original?

I wish the Ahead set adapter that works with the original would work with the Nexxt, because the Nexxt looks more compact, but maybe that's not the case?

Do you have a pic of it on your bike?

I cant comment on the yepp original, as they've just ordered it. From what I understand, the main differences is that the original is alittle ovr 3lbs heavier, but has more perforation on the back rest for air. Also, the nexxt has a magnetic belt locking system. Where as the OG looks like a normal buckle. They went with the original, since it's on sale on Amazon for $177, vs $219 for the nexxt model.

I can snap some pics of the install if you need. Just know, it's not on my mtb, I purchased a Cruiser bike just for this seat.

I grab some pics in a minute.

Cool. Thanks a lot for the extra info.

I’m definitely interested in seeing it on any bike as I’m considering buying a bike just for that too, but trying to figure out what type of bike would be best for it. Been thinking about getting some Jones bars or something similar to bring my reach out away from the seat too

Nice!!! That spot looks amazing, need to find something like that out here. I had couple spots back in CO, but it's very different out here. Way fewer rivers, way more pressure.
@Gunshot-6A , the Ogden is pretty good. I actually got into fly fishing when I lived up there. Really quiet and beautiful, fish are a bit skittish, but not like the Provo.

When you're going as slow as I am these days, you notice all the stranger things. Annadel State Park.

    Forgot to update this:
LBS had a bontrager wheel for $95 + a new rotor $15 because its 6 bolt vs center lock on the old. That was less than the wheel I found online and will probably be A-okay for me as long as I don't crack it again. Also got to keep the old wheel for tinkering

Haven't gotten to ride yet, moved back to VA today, and it just rained a bunch. Hopefully next week will be nice

I had to re-dish this wheel and play around with the shim washers and jamb nuts To get the brake disk to align.

Since this hub is narrower than the original I also had to bend the stays in about half an inch. I used the old rope tourniquet method.
    90E77783-2A61-4C3A-B813-5775BF2C4134.jpg
I started by using a big C-clamp & padding, but that is just clumsy and stupid. The rope method doesn’t scratch anything and it is very convenient and not nearly as awkward.

It’s a lot shinier without the ugly black hub, derailleur, and cog set.
    F6161D6A-FEB7-48C2-84FE-2C4A9437B3FB.jpg
But I can’t get a chain adjustment with these drop outs, and so a little frame modification must come next.
    990895AA-8934-4E26-8039-E438EB2C6493.jpg
Even with a very sloppy chain, I did get it out for a short slow ride. All the gears work but of course I can’t step on the pedals without making the chain skip.
