When sales are posted for $xxx + free battery, when you go to purchase said item, the item and battery both have reduced pricing which in turn, comes out to a "free battery" total savings.

If you return the battery and keep the tool, or vice versa, that reduced cost is basically the refund value. In other words, you can't return the tool and expect to keep the battery on top of a refund for the total purchase price.

I found that out the hard way. I was just about to post that. So take note people. You aren’t getting one over on them.

    I’m pretty sure I’m blacklisted.
I can no longer return any power tools without a receipt. But that is a different story and it doesn’t matter.

If they ever ask to see ID when you return an item. All I can say is KEEP the receipt.

And if someone buys you a tool as a gift and you don’t want it. You have to ask for the receipt and hope the person does not get their feeling hurt. Or just keep a tool you really don’t need.

Some people do it mainly for the reduced cost of a tool.

I did that once with the intention of returning the free battery, but ended up keeping it.

Have to remind myself to cycle through my 5AH batteries as they're all extras. I keep my 2AH battery on the bench to make sure I use that for anything first...while the HO's are strictly for angle grinder or leaf blower use.

I'd love to trade a 5AH or 2 for an M12 large capacity battery.

Just need to find someone local :burp:

Largest I have is the 6.0 HO
And I basically bought that kit for the free tool. But all my tools are impacts and drills. I can’t imagine hanging and 8.0+ of an impact. HEAVY.

Why do you want a 2Ah? What M12 do you want a 3,4,6?

I have a ratchet, impact, angle grinder, circular saw, top off, drill, leaf blower, mini cut-off tool, and whatever else I'm forgetting.

I use non-HO stuff for everything M18 except the leaf blower and angle grinder. Nothing else requires HO...not to mention it'd make something that's supposed to be light, really heavy.

    Oh I don't want an M18 2AH.

I said I use that as often as possible; trying to kill it with charge/discharge cycles.

I have multiple M18 5AH batteries and I could use another M12 but bigger than what I have as I only have 2x 3AH and 1 tiny one that I almost want to dispose of.

Ahh I miss read your post, you are sayin you are willing to trade (1)or(2) M18 5Ah batteries for a M12 4ah or 6ah or both? I saw a deal on some larger M12s a while back let me see what I can find again.

I have to be honest. I don’t really know what the HO is, but I got 2x6.0 batteries and a free tool. I didn’t even know they were HO until I got home.

    I forget, won't get technical.

They're better for tools with higher discharge rates, in summary.

That's just it, I don't want to buy more batteries

    I'll still have extra M18 5AH.
