Did you see my front differential situation? I had a faint hum getting worse very gradually that I didn't even think they would be able to hear. They ran it on the lift and found it was the front differential so they rebuilt it - I guess the ring and pinion were fine but they did all new bearings. It's totally silent now, I don't think it's ever been this quiet. I'm also getting better gas mileage than I ever had. Just before it was rebuilt I was down about 1 MPG from where I usually am. Now I'm consistently 1 MPG higher than I've ever seen.

No I hadn't, but I've only seen a handful of front diff failures on these trucks. Seems like you were one of the lucky ones?

Looking at forum posts, the few other situations I saw were on a Lariat or up with the torque on demand transfer case. Apparently that front diff spins to some extent even in 2WD on those because the clutch in the transfer case lets a tiny bit of centrifugal force through.

A friend just bought a '16 with a bad rear end - it started humming bad very shortly after he bought it. The selling dealer kept telling him it was tire noise, so he brought it to another who went out to him within 15 minutes and said it was the rear end - they found a lot of metal shavings in it when they drained it. The selling dealer wanted him to bring it back to them to rebuild it and he told them he wasn't going to trust them with difficult work like that when they couldn't even diagnose it after multiple attempts. They eventually agreed to pay the other dealer to fix it for him. When he picked it up, he asked the service manager if everything was good and said he will gladly pay if their deal with the selling dealer didn't work out. He admitted the owner of the selling dealer was pushing back hard asking if everything they did was truly necessary, but that they would get them to settle up and not to worry about it.

Yikes! I don't like scenarios like that.

I honestly haven't seen any 4A transfer case/diff issues like that. The most common failures are the IWEs.

I found very few forum posts about it, so it seems like if were common there would be more chatter. They said my IWEs were fine, fortunately!

Okay. To be fair. If you are here with kiddos - beach, arcades, mini golf, etc. Sure. I can see that.

If you're here with friends - bars, bands, clubs, etc at night, beach during the day. Sure.

Alone? Bro it's just sad

Next meetup day? Oob weekend? :D

I’d go just because it is close, but other than work, I spend little time in OOB, and I got friends that live there.

I did hit the beach for a dip at lunch today. Water was uncharacteristically warm. Was actually comfortable. Didn't hang around though was just going for a quick splash and dash at lunch.

Yeah, it's its own little microcosm of shit but it was cool growing up here. Now coming back it's kinda .... :notsure:
