One if the better prices I have seen for the deep cut portaband. Previous best deal I was watching was 279 for tool only.

Site errors to view tool but add to cart button and checkout worked.

Nope, but it looks perfect for installing tv’s and using a multi tool for cutting in outlets.

I came so close to buying one but ultimately just couldn't justify it as I would rarely use it.

If I was a contractor or doing it all the time sure I think it would be great but as a here and there just for myself type the near $40 price tag was too much to justify.

As a technician no way am I spending my own money on one, and the company I work for would never buy it. We will stick to using moving blankets and boxes to catch the dust.

It does cost to much but if it comes down to $30 I may buy it, I dont do a lot of interior work but it would make cleanup way faster when I have to deal with drywall.

Some enterprising individual absconded with most of the batteries, two grease guns, and a sawzall from my place of work last week. Not pictured is another two pack of 5.0 batteries, and a 6.0 battery as well. Somewhat surprisingly the higher ups still won't install cameras... ah well. I get to enjoy unpacking all this!

I'm not a contractor so I have no need for one. Them AirTip attachments are interesting but pretty expensive, one of them costs just as much as I paid for my 0880 vac (HD hack). I guess if you have a need professionally they may make sense.

But speaking of MW vac attachments. I hate that MW made them a proprietary size. They say they're 1-1/4" but none of the 1-1/4" attachments I have from other brands fit the MW. MW is oversized. Now that those AirTips came out, now I know why, so they can make more money selling their own stuff, no surprise. Edit: See post 2714

Damn I really need a 3D printer. I thought for sure someone would have made a 3D printed adapter. Checked etsy & ebay, couldn't find one. So I had to make my own. :annoyed:

    After:
    20220624_195403.jpg
    20220624_194014.jpg

Still fits inside the vac for storage.

    Click for:
First I found this "Power Tool Adapter" that has steps for 3 different sizes. Paid a little more getting it from HD online but at least I could return it in store if it wouldn't work out for me. Well none of the stepped sizes fit any of the dust ports on my power tools nor did it even fit the 2 MW attachments that came with my vac. Whatever, plan was to cut a taper in place of the steps anyway.
    20220602_150458.jpg

So this thing is meant to screw on the hose but the stock one is glued on so you have to cut it off. I wasn't sure if this thing was even gonna work & I didn't want to cut the stock one off in case it didn't. Plus this stupid piece of plastic cost me $17! Back to HD it went.
    20220602_150524.jpg

Found this 4 piece adapter kit at Lowes for $9. Except my local Lowes didn't have it in stock. But I did find the 2 pieces out of the kit that I wanted loose in the bin. Spoke to an employee & then customer service, they sold em to me for $4.50.
    20220604_183002.jpg

Cut out the middle section that I needed from the tapered adapter.
    20220608_202617.jpg
    20220608_204325.jpg

Glued it into the other adapter. Luckily I looked inside the stepped adapter & saw the #5 recycle sign which meant these are made of polypropylene. Mentioning in case anyone wants to do this, most common glues won't stick to PP, I was planning to just use epoxy. You'll need a glue that will bond to polypropylene or polyethylene.

Set up the compound slide on the lathe to match the MW nozzle taper.
    20220624_155021.jpg

    Bored the taper to fit.
    20220624_161516.jpg
    20220624_164334.jpg

And done. Can barely tell there's an insert.
    20220624_193933.jpg
    20220624_211858.jpg

Wish MW would have made it the "correct" size to begin with like everyone else so I didn't have to bother doing this!

I have the m18 version as well and it's been great for camping in the RTT in the Texas heat. I also use it when needed for various tasks working around the house.

I don't know for sure as I've never used any of those AirTips but who knows, maybe they designed the air tips in a way that it does work with other brands?

All I know is all the 1-1/4" attachments I have from various brands all work with each other. But they are too small to fit MW's hose nozzle. There may be one or two that barely fits but not enough to be very secure. And the 2 MW attachments that came with my 0880 vac are too big to fit 1-1/4" hoses from other brands.

Well it looks like you may be ok. Says this on their product page. That explains the weird looking attachment point on the AirTips.

Sorry for speculating that..... looks like for the AirTips they did make em to fit other brands. Smart move but of course for making money, so they can sell to more than just MW users. But that proprietary crap they pulled with the 0880 vac (and I assume the others) is donkey balls!

I'll buy the cheapest airtip accessory and see if it fits my shop vacs and the ones at work.

Edit - and of course HD doesnt have the $20 accessory I wanted most in stock

I hear ya. I was the same, I never looked at cordless shop vacs. My Sears Craftsman 12gal shop vac still serves me well & I have a little (2gal?) Craftsman.

Then I got the M18 2 gal shop vac on a HD hack for $62. The thing is really handy for quick jobs inside the house & I now use it for the truck. I love having it but I don't use it as much as it deserves. I'll find any excuse to use it since it's so quick & easy to use. Don't think I would've bought it at full price.

The full size CM I only use for vacuuming chips (metal) in the garage & the little CM I never use anymore cause it's not worth the hassle dealing with the cord. A little cordless vac is worth it to me but not a full size cordless one.

I do have the little M12 dust buster thats nice for little stuff around the house like drywall dust/quick car cleaning/pets hair/grass/ect but not anything larger. When my two shop vacs(1 gal and 5 gal) die I do think I will buy the M18 wet/dry vac especially if its on sale.

Ok good news so the air tip accessories fit normal shop vacs hoses of various brands. The only milwaukee vac I own is the m12 dust buster which does fit but its not a great seal, no idea about other milwaukee shop vac fitments but I would be surprised if they don't fit.
