(2001 Tacoma SR5 4X4 ext cab 2.7) Mines over 20 years old and (knock on wood), I've never had to use it since I rolled my Tacoma off the show room floor back in 2001. Figure the seals are probably shot in it by now. I have a 4ton jack and stands for garage use. I was never too keen on bottle jacks anyway. Any recommendations on something small and safe enough to carry around out on the road?

I'm still using my dad's bottle jack from 1987, lol. So yours will definitely be in better condition.

There's no seals it's a screw type jack, no lifespan though I can say they tend to eat themselves after a while if your truck weighs 5.5k lbs and you use them with a drill adapter to power them up.

Life span of an OEM jack ends about 30 seconds just before you really need it. But really, no lifespan to be concerned about. It isn't a bad idea to pull it out every couple years, extend it all the way and give it a quick lubrication job and wipe it down.

I'm like you, wanted something more trustworthy.
And I wanted something that would work with a drill....
and compact enough to go behind/under passenger seat...

And its really not for me, I replace tires way too early (a trucks life blood).....
its for rescuing others.......its come in very handy......
lightning fast....with a drill......and much safer, able to correct/adjust on the fly fast.....

This one is heavier and taller than most......and also hard to get.....
