Yesterday, my dad and I hopped in Suburban and spent all day cruising around Santa Clara County. I was born at El Camino Hospital in March 1989, and my dad was stationed at Moffett Field from about 1985 to 1990, and then again from 1996 to 1998. I attended second and third grade at Landels Elementary School in Mountain View, California. As you can see, the lion is still the school mascot...

 

School is out for the summer, otherwise we wouldn't have gone onto the property...

The woman at the front desk said we could go onto the playground, so we did, and the memories came flooding back...

This blue truck was here when I first started going to school here in September 1996, it was there when I finished third grade in June 1998, and I was amazed to see that it was still there in August 2022!

 

It had a steering wheel back in the late 1990s, and I'm assuming it's been repainted at least once, but this truck looks almost the same as it did 24 years ago!

 

At almost six feet tall and nearly 280 pounds, there's no way in hell I was going to fit in the "cab", but again, this pretend truck brought back a ton of good memories!

 

The playground structure behind the truck was there in in 1996-1998 as well; California weather is very kind to everything metal!

 

Before we went to my old school, we stopped at The Fish Market, which is a chain in California and one of our favorite places to eat when we lived here back in the 1990s...

 

The Fish Market had the head of a 3,200-pound Great White Shark on display!

 

I think they're gonna need a bigger boat...

 

Before we went to lunch, we stopped by the hospital where I was born, El Camino Hospital!

 

My parents bought this house in Milpitas, CA in 1988 shortly before getting married; I was born in March 1989 and they sold in 1990 when my dad got transferred to NAS Willow Grove...

My parents paid $190K for this house in 1988 and sold it in 1990 for $250K. It is now worth over $1.6 million!

 

My Middle School/High School is gone, they plowed it over a few years ago.

 

My cousin let me drive her new Tesla!

It takes a little getting used to, because the brakes are automatically applied as soon as you take your foot off the accelerator pedal (Obviously it can't be a gas pedal, since it's an electric car)...

 

Definitely sounds like it would need a little adjustment period to get used to it.
