Damn that sucks. We switched all of our can lighting to LEDs (about 20) when we moved in 7 years ago and I've only had one go bad so far. Are yours all the same from the same manufacturer? We went with some Feit floods from Costco and they've been great so far.

Same, I’ve had zero issues with LEDs.

    Zero issues?

We replaced every bulb in our house to LED when we moved in, we saw about a 10% failure rate for them within the first couple of years. Over the course of say 5 years, we have replaced about 50%.. Even with internal LED's on the truck, im already on my 3rd set in some cases.

I've seen other issues with LED's causing the new style of breakers to constantly trip as well.

Yes, zero issues. I have Feit bulb from a Costco or Philips Hue bulbs everywhere. When was your house built? I wonder if it is something with your wiring.

What brand LEDs were you using? Haven't had any issues with breakers either. House was built in 2001.

My house was built in 2006 but the house that has the issues with the breakers was built in 2017 under new code requirements. It's not the wiring it is 100% LED.

I have feit bulbs as well and Philips, both have failed. I've used GE, Ecosmart, etc, they all basically equally suck.

You would be the first person in the entire world to never experience an LED issue.

All GE, live in an old house built in ‘47…previous owners had it rewired, but think it is getting some surges to cause them to fail prematurely. Could get it rewired again, not worth the expense to me just to have LEDs.

I guess you don’t realize how dumb your statement was.

“You would be the first person in the entire world to never experience an LED issue.”

Just think about that for a second…

Know plenty of people who have switched over to all LED in the house without significant issues.

we have switched over all that make sense, the dimmable lights have not been switched since i dont want to spend the money on replacing the switches yet. no real issue and i dont really hunt for specific brands just output color warm light.

I’ve had warm ones in living areas and cool in the work areas, kitchen and garage. They’ve both failed here and there.

There's 10k of incentives from feds and state for the PHEV version, so the actual difference would be 3.5k. (never mind trim differences, etc). R4 (not hybrid) gets 27/35, or roughly 31 MPG combined, which @ $5/gal, comes out to 16c/mile. So, given that the PHEV gets roughly (okay, slightly better) milage than the non-hybrid, that comes out to 22k miles on batteries @ payback, so it depends on how many 'in town' EV miles I get.

    That said, I'm the type to keep a rig for 20 years, so... :p What's a trade-in?

I mean yeah, buying a 'gently used' car would reduce that upfront cost a little, but when used prices are so stupid (and have been for a while, tbh, in yota-land) might as well get the new one. Remember, my R4P replaced a (pretty nicely modded/tuned/etc) 03 TDI Jetta Wagon.

Comparing Apples to Oranges. I personally can't see $67,000 for a Rivian.

Funny since I casually mentioned LEDs have one starting to flicker in the living room can fixtures just today. They never completely burn out, either they flicker or grow dim.

It is definitely the wiring in the house, finding they have cut some corners, like having too many large appliances on one circuit. Does need some reworking, we are also looking into moving…so no real desire of putting too much money into this house.

Smartphones will explode and kill me while I sleep and LED is inferior to incandescent really does sum up the luddite boomer takes that permeate this thread. Wild.

Buy Cree LEDs, by the way. LED bulbs are unique because they aren’t just bulbs: each bulb has an onboard controller. The LED themselves almost never die but the controllers of cheaper ones often fail. I understand that the controller failing is equivalent to a non-LED bulb failing, by the way, just pointing out why there’s a difference between brands.
