All you need now is a water fountain.

Birds do a good enough job. Still use a toilet brush on it from time to time.

Gonna retrofit this one with an underground pail & pump next.

    General question to anyone.

    Can annual flowers cross pollinate?

I find a lot annuals in my yard, both front and rear. The neighbor replies the wind probably blew them over. On his side there's no flowers that are missing, no sign of them missing from a hole. Every year it's the same.

I was just looking at the modern (old) pump. It supposed to be made from the same molds as the vintage ones.

An annual flower is only considered annual if it is not cold tolerant enough to survive the winter alive. For instance, house plants in the northeast are landscaping plants in Florida. Depending on the specific plant, if it is close to being cold tolerant for your area it might be able to find a micro climate that allows the seed to stay viable until the next spring. And some plants are biennials that will seed one year and the seeds will grow the next year. So your neighbor is most likely correct, the seeds are most likely windblown in the fall and seed themselves and bloom in the spring. What plants are you seeing that look like they have "migrated" to your yard?

Had an early season hail storm a while back. Cross pollinated so many plants & colours I could barely remember what I planted where.

They don't use seeds. They buy pre grown annuals.

    Like these.

I just cut with lawnmower when I see them. Maybe they regrow from last year.

    They look like these.

    But in smaller bunch.

Those are impatiens, which produce seeds continuously as the grow so they could have started from a windward seed.

They buy them from Walmart or Home Depot.

They come like this when bought. They do have some of these planted to.

Wait until the tendrils by the stem is completely dry. That’s how we have to do it for the watermelon, should be the same.

Quite a few peppers and yellow squash along with zucchini so far . Blueberries are done ,I have had better yields on those before. Tomatoes are getting there . Have mostly Husky Cherry tomatoes. First time growing corn . Some I planted with black plastic down and some without . The corn that is growing through the holes in the plastic is great . Anything just in the dirt is stunted :notsure:

The plastic makes a big difference. I guess the plastic really helps to retain the moisture.

My neighbor has a wind powered windmill like yours in the last picture.
