    Good Saturday morning Wrenchmen!

    77 degrees already, on the way to a projected high of 90, sounds like a good day to go hide out at the garage. It is concrete block and pretty shaded on two sides so stays decently cool, humidity wise not so good sometimes though.

    The multi plugs are something not preferred to use.
    That said what he is doing is perfectly safe, the fan, radio and Dremel probably don't draw 150 watts together.

    Amps = watts/volts, 150w/120v =1.25 amps - not much on a device rated 15 amps. :cool:

    The problem comes along when people plug 3 electric heaters (1500W) into one -- and then put a penny behind the fuse.:boom:

    I had one of those panels in my old house in Mississippi. It was rigged in a way that the fuses did nothing, or was just that old and broken. Knob and tube wire. Also had a sub panel going to the master bedroom addition using 12/3 non grounded on the 100 amp leads... Still in service when I sold it in 2013... :anonymous:

    They weren't unsafe when installed, houses have a lot more electrical items in them then the installers of the day ever dreamed of.

    Growing up we had a 19" black & white TV, blender, toaster and a radio that my mom got by collecting S&H green stamps.

    Green stamps worked like the "loyalty card" points today, they had a huge catalog where you redeemed your accumulated stamps for merchandise.

    Leave it to the “Experts”. Folks that know hair. That way you got an out if it doesn’t work out. Remember, you don’t buy a haircut. You’re just using one til it wears out. :)

    Same thing on campus. When some of the dorms were built in the 60's, they didn't know everyone would have their own computer, mini fridge and 85" TV so the one's that haven't been upgraded yet are quite amperage poor.

    At least the lighting has gotten more efficient. :p

    I was actually surprised the house I'm in had a breaker panel since it was built in 1965 and mostly not updated. Some point in the 80's they swapped the old fuse panel out with a Square D split bus 100 amp panel. It was still serviceable and in good condition, but didn't have any extra room I needed...

    [IMG]

    Due to budget I had to keep with 100 amps as I would have had to move where the service came in for 200amp and the cable to run that far would have been way too expensive.
