A little something every chance we get.
:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Gal! Getting so I am a one hit wonder this week. Can only do one thing. Got my haircut, showed up early at Discount Tire, waited patiently for my turn, and the guy comes and says we don't need to rotate your tires - you've only gone 2000 miles - it's too soon. Well, you sent me 3 reminders! Oh well. Went to the San Marcos WalMart, which is getting a make over - everything moved, and nothing is marked. Took a while. Went to get gas and come home - $2.62 into my fill up, and everything shuts down. Pump says "all pumps stopped". Waited a few minutes for nothing, and went elsewhere. Got home, and my new garage door remote won't open the door! Find out later that it's because I finally programmed the key pad, and that meant I needed to reprogram the remotes! Decided that's it for the day.

Got a message from my son later - had a pretty big chip in the Prius window. Told him to find a chip repair guy - it's not a DIY. More messaging later, turned into a 2 inch crack going to work, turned into a 6 in crack going home. Panic is setting in, it's after 5 and he can't find a solution. Told him to put clear shipping tape on it for the moment - it won't fall out on him. Messaged this AM to tell me he has a 10 AM appointment for replacement. Good.

Got cheap cat food for the animal trap wife wants me to put out for the cats and coons. So, I set it up last night where I see most on the videos, and before 10, we have a racoon. Then she tells me animal control won't come get it. And if we caught the cats, she would have to take them to the shelter. WTF is animal control for then? Police have been given the phone, and they just don't bother to answer either. So, this AM I am going to move it out front, and figure where to take it. She let it go. Destroyed the dog water dish she left in it, ate the plastic food container, and destroyed a foot square in the grass. She says, next time we won't put trap in the grass - I said if no one will take the critter, I am not setting the trap.

I have to go mow now. Then at 1, the garage door tech people I got escalated to are supposed to call. The app will not WiFi. Everything else works. I'm pushing it, because that is TWO things.

The best thing I've found to bait a trap is what's left in the bottom of the pan after my wife makes oven fried chicken. You don't even need to put it in a container, just warm it up and dribble some through the wire onto the ground under the cage.

We had cats dumped at our ranch in South Dakota all the time. One week we had nine cats show up. We'd see a car stop at the head of the driveway and a door open up... and then they'd drive off in a hurry and we'd have another cat show up about a day or two later. At first I'd trap them and haul them into the county shelter in Sturgis, twenty-five miles away... but I couldn't go every day and didn't feel it was right keeping the cats in a cage for days or a week at a time... and I wasn't going to feed them... so it became necessary to just shoot them. And the racoons were brutal on the chickens, but they were few and far between. We had the trap set every night and probably averaged a couple of cats a week and a racoon every three weeks or so.

Spay your cats and keep them inside, please.

Steroids if taken at the right time are amazing for many things including covid. Glad you are a little better and got medical treatment, including antibiotics, get well soon!

Yeah I miss riding it. The first few days I'm back to work I'll drive the taco, my balance is still off so I need to give it a little time. But I'll ride the ebike until the snow flies.

You have cat and raccoon problems, I have squirrels. We’ve always had a lot of squirrels in the neighborhood but this summer is gone crazy. Coming back from my morning dog walk I had 6 young squirrels run down the oak tree in my front yard followed by an adult squirrel. They all ran across the street and hung out under the neighbor’s cars and turned to face me and the dog like they were taunting us. People think they’re cute but they are destructive as hell, I have chew marks on my shutters, fascias, flashing and gutters. We have at least one owl and several hawks in the neighborhood but they’re not keeping up with the population explosion. Just a matter of time before they find a way into my attic and set up housekeeping. This is going call for drastic action but I don’t know what. Last few years I managed to use a broom handle to dispatch a possum who took a liking to my garage and an armadillo who tore up my hard almost nightly until he met the business end of a shovel but how do I handle literally dozens of squirrels?

I'm in the city, so I can't shoot anything.
Animals are all breeding at the abandoned 'FOR SALE" house on the corner. Burned down, no insurance, rebuilt the frame, then framed "old" rooms and quit. It's a junk collection station, and strays are breeding there. Want a fortune for it too!
I can put trap out front where the coon doesn't (usually) go . Cheap cat food is $7 a 12 pack and convenient.
I have a ear corn feeder for the squirrels. We have no trees, so they are no bother. And they and the dog enjoy a full cartoon relationship. So, I'll just wait to reload it.

I have NO problem with catch! It's humane release that's the annoying issue.

Conibear 220 is a inhumane killing trap. They are supposed to be quick kill but it’s not the way it always works out. I’m not squeamish, I’m a life long hunter, I’ve seen a lot of stuff. I even did a little trapping in my early 20’s. But seeing half dead suffering critters in my traps was enough for me. I’m not making a judgement about anyone here, I’m just saying kill traps are not always humane.

Glad you sought help Greg! Covid is no joke.

I had a call with my pain specialist yesterday and he prescribed Gabapentin for the nerves and I finally had a full night sleep. I’m praying that it wasn’t a fluke and maybe a little relief for a while.

It is, I asked about it but I would have had to go someplace else for it. Not all places can do it. The treatment they gave me is working wonderfully.

Most car insurance companies will replace the glass as part of the policy. They will repair the ding so it will not turn into a crack. My 09 Tacoma picks up rocks like a magnet. So far, I have had 3 dings repaired with no problems.

Today we are off to an outdoor brewery venue for a mid-day birthday celebration for my nephew and his best friend. Chance of rain exists all day but greater after 5pm. The event is 12 to 5 today.

This week seems to be good news week on my health issues front. My Thursday Ultra scan of my entire abdominal area came back with good results, even for the gall bladder, but the Doc will need to go over the results with us first. In the past 3 months I have lowered my A1C from 7.4 to 6.1 and lost 24 pounds. I need to continue on the path. Looks like I can have the Fried Perch dinner and a bowl of ice cream when I am up in the Thumb of MI later this month.

After 25 years I just bought a new zebco 33 platinum spin cast reel to go on my flipping stick.
Still gonna keep the old one and I have a extra kids rod. So I’ll get that ready and if I see a kid with his dad With no pole, he’ll have one.
Did this like 8 years ago. Father couldn’t believe I did that.

So I just took the mail man on a fishing equipment shopping spree.
$139 for a new rod ,some lures, tackle box, line.

    All excited.
He knows very few people are allowed on the boat.
So brought the stuff back to my house and rigged everything up.
He says “ so we gonna go next week?”
I go “Naaaaa, maybe I’ll take you next year.
The look in his face was priceless.
I said “Of course we are.”
