    Morning all:
Nothing new here, just went down to straighten the pond pipe and 7 of the rat traps were sprung. Maybe time to conceal myself and fire a slug from the shotgun into the water about 6-8' in front of the bear, if it were legal the crosshairs would be on the bear and not in front of it!

A little something every chance we get.
That is a determined bear... maybe it's something about that particular pipe!

I got alerted this week from my dealership the time for me to become an official Tacoma owner is finally in sight. In my case, I put a deposit down on a fully tarted out Blue Crush Metallic TRD Sport DCSB 6MT back in February and was told, "Don't expect it any sooner than six to eight months, if ever." My sales associate contacted me and told me he had an allocation for the following truck:
    • 2022 TRD Sport DCSB
    • Barcelona Red Metallic
    • 6-Speed Manual Transmission
    • LED Headlights and Fog Lights
    • Premium Package
    • Advanced Technology Package
Needless to say, I told him to jump on the allocation; he told me it would be built during the last week of August / first week of September and it would arrive at the dealership here in New Hamster in November. :)

Now I just need to figure out what to do about my 2006 Acura TL 6MT; I love that car but my wife and I don't need three cars (four if you count our son's really clean 1989 Eddie Bauer Edition Bronco with the 5.0 liter V8 and a 5-Speed manual sitting in my storage locker).

That doesn't sound right. How is it that a 2022 model will be built in November of 2022? November is way into 2023 model year.

Could you rig up one of the flash bang gadgets that uses a 12 gauge shell on a trip wire to the pipe?

I just had a thought after reading RustyGreen's post.

How about using an electric fence charger to charge the pipe? Not enough amps to damage the bear but certainly enough voltage to get its attention.

I asked my sales associate about that; he told me Toyota hasn't informed them when the official cutover is yet; basically, unless told otherwise, it will be considered a 2022 build. I'm assuming once he gets his hands on the temporary VIN we'll know for sure which model year.

Why do you think the bear is coming around? 99.9% of the time bears are driven by food/hunger. The search for food is their life (other than mating and cub care). I don’t recall anything about this pipe but I bet it’s been around for some time and the water and organic material flowing through have built up some waste material that smells, smells like food to the bear. Bears love stinky rotten stuff. Carrion is a part of their diet. Can you temporarily remove the pipe or re pipe? Is there anything else there that a bear might consider food? When you see the bear what does he do at the pond? Mess around with the pipe, go swimming or ?

    Afternoon all:

I think that the noise from the water flowing into the pipe may be what is attracting it to it, I was watching it swatting at the pipe with its paws the other day. The pipe is PVC, there is no noticeable buildup in it and can't electrify it, I think the only reason it is frequenting the pond so much is to cool off.
Been looking at the tripwire flash bangs, that may be the next plan!

    Getting ready!
Just got done cleaning the coal stove and plan on putting new gaskets on the doors, winters coming!!!

If it's PVC, even better for electrifying it. Wrap a couple or three coils of the wire around the end of the pipe and it's insulated from any ground, and if the bear is in the water is should get a good jolt touching the pipe. Have you ever heard about someone pissing on an electric fence?

Not so sure about that. While in Boot Camp, I swamped out the latrine with a bucket of water, hit an electric outlet, barely got a tingle. Did it again and again just for shits and giggles.

    Old Marine Corps joke...

A swabbie and a jarhead walk into the head at about the same time and both take a leak; the swabbie finishes up first and goes over to the sink and washes his hands. The jarhead finishes up and heads for the door; the sailor says, "In the Navy we were taught to wash our hands after we pee." The Marine didn't miss a beat, "In the Marines we were taught not to pee on our hands." :)

What’s the difference between a mechanic and a pencil pusher? The mechanic washes his hands before he pees.
