Never saw one with a handle before.
Now days if you made your kids trimm grass by hand it would be called child abuse.

And only one speed. However, my first ones worked by a vacuum motor, let off the gas and they would fly.

And when you needed them the most, like when passing someone, and you stepped on the gas - they would stop! Grrrrr
That was the worst irritation with them, but better than the older, non-vacuum ones that you had to flip back & forth by hand.

(There wasn't any motor. They worked off of engine intake vacuum. That's why accel-decel would affect them.)

I remember watching the wonderful world of color in black and white.

I trimmed grass with those little clippers when I was six years old and then we moved to the desert where there was no grass.

I didn’t have to deal with it again until I was about 12, and we moved to Minnesota where there was lots of grass.

The thing is... it truly is marked backwards. It shows East as 270 degrees and West as 90 degrees. A whole 180 deg off!
The person in charge of that instrument was smoking some good shit.

(at least they had North & South proper)

I have a ‘47 Plymouth with vacuum wipers, But she’s in pieces right now.

I also had a ‘59 Edsel that had the extra vacuum pump on top of the fuel pump, so they didn’t stop when you stepped on the gas.

I still have a International Scout with vacuum wipers and I will likely try to put it back on the road by next Christmas.

There was so much grass in MN that I had to shovel snow off of it just so I could mow it!

Yeah, the grass wasn’t the worst part of living in Minnesota.
