I may have already asked you, but do you tow in "D" or "Sx" (x being whatever gear is necessary for the speed traveling to keep rpms reasonable) when you have Betty loaded?

I jump between s4 and s5 most of the time on the highway, occasionally dropping down to s3 or s2 on a steep descent to help with engine braking.

Hi Randy nice meeting you at RC over the weekend I will be following your build- insane work! She is an ifs beast for sure. Thanks for the Lasso technique for pulling CVs I am going to put a few together for the kit. Also doing the 2 low mod super easy in first gens with the button for 4wd. I am new on here so I will be stopping in more often, Cheers

Nice meeting you as well, I'd love to sit around a campfire next time and shoot the shit some more. The lasso technique works pretty well but I'm about to start carrying my 10 lb sledgehammer in my trailer toolbox to make life a little easier next time. And welcome to the lair! A lot of BS'ing goes on in here but I try to keep it updated with build stuff too.

When did you start doing that? Or is this a new development/choice?

Don't you remember that one post from months ago where I mentioned I did that one thing? That's what I'm referencing.

Something about trotting in on his trusty steed, lasso a-twirl, ready to rustle up an axle. With a crack of the rope, he combines horse strength with Randy strength and the axle pulls out of the differential with nary a sound. Just be sure to have a catcher prepared to mitt that fucker because they like to go shooting into the brush.

    That post? That thing?

I think Justin was referencing my comment about this being any semblance of a build thread, but I like your interpretation better.

So even though I didn’t necessarily need my 100w solar panel for long excursions, it was nice for keeping the battery topped off. The solar controller was also smart enough to have various modes to maintain the battery and keep it healthy.

I found a 5w replacement from the same company to act as a trickle charger and the panel has a built in controller to achieve the same goal. What’s cool too is that I can plug it directly into the cigarette lighter since I have them always hot, and I’ll leave the panel suction cupped to the inside of the windshield. For only $30 I’m impressed.

Ugh. Had to put a new tire on the Tundie...am on vacation with my extended family. Was trying to park in the resort we are staying in and they have very deep areas around the storm drains...I was just ready to be done driving after being on the road for 5 hrs to get here. When I tried to park against the curb, I didn't notice the deep hole for the drain and hit it... curb rashing my wheel bad and cutting the side wall of the tire...went flat within minutes...260 buck later...have a new tire on wheel.

Dang! That is deep, but deceptively so. That sucks.
