    I am.

    That mistake of measuring 7" wide cardboard and making the split decision to use my 6" wide steel turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

    That left me with two 3' x 12.5" x 3/16" pieces as well as a 5' x 12.5" x 3/16" piece.

    I can use those larger, wide pieces to make a piece that goes from the rear to out and around the sides.

    Will need to measure it out after the base is done, but that'll allow for 4 pieces (2 each side) to sandwich and have a single plate on the outside to box it up.

    They remind me of some of the old houses in the Nevada city / Grass Valley area.

    Yeah there are some really cool old Victorian neighborhoods in Nevada City as well. Houses look amazing but I bet owning one is a constant repair project

    @Wulf
    @Speedytech7
    @Abeyancer

    If either of you were buying new, and needed a bench top drill press, what one would you recommend?

    Want to keep it at $300 or less?

    Won't be used often really, but when I do use it, it'll be for steel which...really is more dependent on the drill bits anyway.

    Wen keeps coming up but wanted to hear your thoughts.

    Not sure I understand the problem, but only the rear sensor controls the gauge, the main CTS controls more important things

    What bits do you go with for steel? I need some dedicated ones I think. Feel like I've tried everything out there and only steppers seem to work long term

    Dummy gauge on the dash isn't hooked up but it would be nice to know if I'm overheating. Can't find what color wire for the engine bay harness is the gauge feeder.

    It's carburated so neither the intake coolant sensor or block coolant sensor is hooked to anything or technically necessary

    I've *heard* of good bits by Irwin or DeWalt, but personally I haven't tested any.

    Can find out once I buy a drill press.

    The ones we use at work are some expensive, individually purchased drill bits that the owner sends out to get sharpened even.

    I haven't. I actually just learned about it from watching that video a few days ago, but the way he used it makes sense to me. It's clever.

    Casey mentioned it in his latest video on YouTube sponsorship. He said the marketing folks in Ancel marketing were being obnoxiously persistent so he started to make a sort of shitpost review out of spite but then actually ended up liking the tool.

    Nice!

    Bookmarked.

    Interesting to see Milwaukee made it on the list. I love their stuff but don't expect them to have great *everything*

    Read and watched good stuff about the brand.

    I mean, I could chance it.

    It's funny when there's a smaller company that comes out of the blue and really knocks it out with a good product.

    Primeweld did that for me.

    The site is unbiased in all it's reviews. They just test shit and do it in a very controlled and precise manner. There's not much they haven't put a review out on at this point. I use them all the time when researching construction tools.

    I got some US-made Irwin step bits on closeout at Lowe's a year or so ago. I think they were in the middle of replacing them with Asian-made (I don't remember if Taiwan or China) bits. Real-life proof tat the stuff you bought a few years ago might not be what's on the shelf today.

    Someone on YouTube (maybe Rory?) said these are amazing for drilling steel: https://www.matcotools.com/catalog/product/DB29HSG/29-PIECE-HYPER-STEP-DRILL-BIT-SET/
