3rd Gen Magnetic Gray Thread

These are Blackhorn Offroad BH01's sized 17x9 with a +12mm offset. Tires are Falken Wildpeak in 265/70/17. Stock suspension.

 

I used a heat gun, but honestly, a hair dryer would probably have been a better choice. Very easy to overheat the decal making too soft to get off in any sizeable chunk. Trick is to get just enough heat in it to soften the adhesive so that it will peel off easily. After it was off, I used 3M adhesive remover to get residual adhesive off. This stuff works like a charm! It's expensive, but definitely worthwhile.

 

July 18 of this year - first day with my 2022 SR5 DCSB 4x4 AT. I learned to drive a long time ago in Los Angeles on my dad's 72 Chevy Cheyenne Super 4x4, MT. Had three, yes 3 gas tanks and needed them. My wife and I are now empty nesters and got what I've wanted for a while. I won't mod it too much, but need something to help my 5'3" wife get in the truck and she doesn't want steps, so we will see. Had it ceramic coated last week and the guy approved of my color. He told me that our color, along with one or two more, will continue to look great as time goes on.

Body shop who took care of my Tacoma vs doe deer encounter (early last fall. No damage to hood. Pre grille guard Last 4 vehicles - any that had a grille guard did not hit a deer. So by Gawd, grille guards work!), just finished my non deer hit request for a scooped hood. CAPA hood, cash and carry, painted (perfect match) on both sides OEM style (unlike Revemoto, who's now north of $1800, but they do have shipping costs), OEM scoop bought on eBay, for $1174.
Toyota, you're not the boss of me. I will have a scoop on an Off Road.

 

I had a Lady pull out in front of me in a construction zone! For the scoop I figured why not! I kick myself in the ass for not thinking of the pro grill as well!

Ha!- On the grille (at least you caught the hood!), you can get a HIGH QUALITY knock off from Empyre. Pick your letter color as well. I had zero TSS issues w/ their garnish like many.

 

Washed the truck yesterday. Pretty impressed with CMX ceramic trim coating.

 

Nice. Hadn't heard of CMX. Youtube reviews agree w/ you.

 

I'd love to get a mountain decal for my incoming MGM Limited, but I'm not so sure a black decal will stand out on the MGM backdrop.
Anyone have decals on theirs? How does a black stand out or should I go for some other color?

 

If you want the graphic to "shout" --- black, unless glossy, is tough on MGM... however, matte black is subtle but attractive on MGM imho - exactly why I bought these bed decals (saw a pic online w/ the decal finally on MGM). I get a a little graphic styling but not over the top, visually. Red accents are a theme on my truck (looks great on MGM) so that was welcomed:

 

Those matte blacks look great and yeah, they don't "shout" which I'm fine with.

 

Roger that. Same dynamic that most people find tattoos look better on darker skin tones vs lighter.

 

Btw, decal is from US Rally Stripes. Quality materials. Decal this size is not the easiest (each piece is separate on transfer tape, so to speak) - even w/ the ease of the wet method. One side I got a small wrinkle/crease that I could not get out, despite much effort. Marcos sent me out a new side at a reduced price.

Does anyone have non-black Decals on their MGMs? I don't think the blacked out looks that good and trying to find a different route. I'm thinking either small chrome (not bumpers, side mirrors etc) and vintage Toyota colors

Maybe a dumb question. Why doesn’t my Taco have decals? I don’t really care, but it seems like most of them do. Mine is a 4x4.

 

Looks like you’re really close to the people in the next site. I like Vermont and New Hampshire state parks because of the extra space.
