In order to keep the dual front sprocket that I was forced to have a chain tensioner.

Currently it is in the form of my old derailer which I have locked in position with a scrap of ratty cable.

The three-speed hub somehow works with the Shimano shifter in 3,5 or 7, and it seems extremely sturdy. I was able to stand on it in top gear, which is quite tall, with no feeling of frailty whatsoever.

The ugly shifter cable clamp is scratching the frame. This will change.

aside from the obvious minor warts that I must correct, & the fact that I’m still running a bunch of ugly black gear, I’m really happy with the way the bike works now.

The investment in the Sturmey hub doesn’t seem like quite the boondoggle that it was $300 ago.

Of course that rear wheel and tire assembly probably weighs as much as an entire carbon fiber bicycle. But this is an exercycle and not a racing cycle. The heavier it is the more exercise I get.

Gravel and road ride in Santa Cruz. It sucked to have to skip all the fun stuff but it was still good to get out and get some sun.

We were over at their house yesterday, and helped with the instal of the original Yepp mini. So I took some comparison pics.

Here's what I noticed. Yepp og vs Nexxt
    - They're not interchangable.
    - OG seat is made if a Rubber/ Foam like material that is very soft & flexible. The strenght come from the metal (steel?) frame surounding the seat's frame. The Nexxt is all EPS material, like a helmet.
-OG has an additional red release button
-Key lock lock is in a different location
    -Nexxt model has magnetic buckle.

I got to break in a few new parts over the last few days - to include a new Rockshox Lyric and Super Deluxe Ultimate, Maxxis Forekaster V2 rear tire w/ Cushcore XC, and Galfer Pro pads and Wave rotors.

Curious to hear your feedback on the V2 Forekaster. Really liked V1 as a front but could not deal with the lack of braking traction on the rear. New one looks promising.

So far I'm pretty impressed! I didn't care for the V1 in 2.35" but the 2.6" was good for XC - just not my favorite tire size. I think this tire is incorrectly compared to the Ground Control and Wicked Will - the Rekon is a better comparison for those tires.

It's a solid trail bike tire, (especially as a rear) and has the weight and braking/cornering traction to be a great rear tire to match to a DHF/DHRII/etc.

Very cool. We think similarly it seems, 2.6 FK up front is great on my 35mm internal wheels, just not my favorite setup. Bikepacking, yup. Going fast, meh. Love the Rekon in 2.6 though. Thanks for the info.

    Man, that is SO helpful.

I really appreciate you taking the time to do that! I've been all over the internet and haven't been able to find a good comparison.

I've heard about this festival. Is there a good recap video or pictures anywhere? May be a good excuse to ride in the Northeast
