I have less than 2 weeks to finish the rear seat delete tray. I think I can get quite a bit knocked out tomorrow...(famous last words). Got tuned today, WOW what a difference.

Yes, it was a last minute decision late yesterday. Traffic was terrible. Worth the hassle though.

I'm a definite for Tuesday, just gonna have a little hitchhiker with me. Wife is currently working second shift for the month. Headed out to Madison today to help a buddy who's sub-lease is ending. We're hoping his futon isn't longer than my short bed since it's gonna be raining all day. Wish us luck :fingerscrossed:

    See ya Tuesday!

I guess we should sit in the smoking section this time! Didn’t realize I was smoking my cigar in the wrong section.

So the weekend at Road America had its ups and downs. Saw some great racing, some terrible racing (Lambos couldn't stay on the track, too many yellow flags), some amazing vehicles, and had some great food and laughs with friends new and old. We ended up leaving yesterday evening to avoid the rain/storms. Last year was a mess with heavy rain and we didn't want to pack up a pop-up camper in the rain and high heat again and go home soaked and exhausted. Watched today's race from my couch in cool AC.

Didn't buy much at the track, but this sticker in blue caught my eye!

Love racing at RA, sad our series didn’t run over there this year. Shawano is a great #2 though

Well, the shelf may not be done by pipeline. Had a bit of a problem...welded a couple of pieces wrong...had to cut a bunch of things, grind them smooth and re-weld them in the correct position. Some of the progress...

Oh, some of the welds look like hell. I miss having my shop. Having to wire-feed outside sucks. The slightest breeze and there goes your shielding gas. I'm sure the welds are still good enough for the project, it's not like I'm going to have 1k lbs on the thing.

Got home early, barely a breeze. Let's see if we can get a little done.

Only welding left is attaching the mounting brackets. Might get the chance to start laying out the plastic tomorrow...who knows.

Fit is great. I could never do this with wood. So far, I would guess the frame weighs about 8 lbs.

I think I need to learn to weld. I can already see a 5th version of the sleeping platform happening next year. o_O

Take your idea and plans to a local HS and have tech ed kids help you make it... Our program generally doesn't charge for anything but materials.

That's a good idea! If nothing else, I'll send you the plans.

I've been thinking it would be nice to rebuild the whole thing out of aluminum. I like the current version, but want to make some tweaks this winter. I'm not sure if I'll just make changes to what I have, or start over with aluminum or steel.

I might have to set up a work shop in my basement, or get a heater for the garage.

In 09 I was laid-off I went back to school at Moraine Park Tech College for welding. We were always doing projects for the instructors friends.
