@zoo truck , Not to mention that tacoma and other toyota models have the oil filter housing sits at or below oil pump,. Now, explain to me how the engine gets starved with the oil housing sitting vertically

LOL. Ask any mechanic if pushing oil changes out can shorten the life of the engine. Toyota pushes the oci out when they’re paying for the service, think about it. You think dirty oil plays no part in engine wear? The “operating conditions” are bs

Modern synthetics are capable of 10,000 OCI. If you 'need' 5,000 OCIs, it's because you have a mechanical flaw, design flaw or beat on it. 5,000 OCI is you band-aid fix.

Or, your driving circumstances put you into the severe duty category. Without beating on it or having a mechanical or design flaw. To which a 10,000 mile oil change interval would not be recommended.

Beat on it and severe duty is the same thing in my book.

I will concede, it's not black/white...but shades of gray.
I'm just saying, none of it reflects on the oil's 'potential capability'.

Its basically the same issue they claimed toyota has on some engines. When their started up you have no oil pressure for a moment....its the same when you change your oil, and don't pre-fill the oil filter housing prior to installing it.
Unless you fall under severe operating conditions there's no need to replace your oil any sooner than 10k miles.

Seriously, what is the obsession with this guy and this video? And honestly, who gives a fuck about what happened to a single vehicle for which no one can actually vouch for the service history, oil type, etc. Got it. He believes in 5K intervals. Next.

Actually, no, I retract that. No next. No more.

This guy is giving his opinion. Just like everyone on YouTube, and everyone else here. I hear other people's opinions, and then make my own decision for my own reasons and my own circumstances.
One thing that l don't do is mock or ridicule those who have come to a different decision than myself.

People show their true colors from behind a keyboard.

    I'm out!

had mechanic do the change last time since I have no garage and it was too hot outside to do myself. I'll be doing the next one sometime next month.

do you guys recommend running any cleaner through the fuel system?
