Somebody built a 5-lug 2nd Gen Taco with a Tundra 5.7L for SEMA a while ago...

 

lol I would like to use a Toyota V8, but nobody here thinks they're worth swapping. Besides, I kinda want to build an LS motor, and putting a low compression, twin turbo, fire breathing monster sounds like fun.

The biggest thing, other than money, holding me back is transmission. I have no idea what gearbox I'd put behind that engine, and I'm absolutely NOT touching an Automatic. The 2JZ is easier, I'd just stick with a Toyota 6MT that's 4X4 capable, just not the stock Tacoma 6MT.

While driving to the first of two cars shows this morning (actually Saturday morning, I got the urge to answer nature's call. The sole toilet in men's room at the Wawa on Route 309 in Hatfield was occupied, so I stopped at the Toyota dealership two tenths of a mile away. This dealer, Peruzzi Toyota, happens to be the same dealer where my dad bought my Tacoma in September 2009. My parents also had their 1990 Camry serviced at this dealership when we lived in Pennsylvania the first time from 1990 to 1996.

I chatted with the salesmen, and found out at that if Toyota does launch an all-electric Tacoma, it won't be sold in Pennsylvania. Why? Pennsylvania does not have the infrastructure to support a huge number of electric vehicles, and in fact plans on continuing to promote the hybrid technology that it pioneered with the Prius.

This is exactly why I do not fully trust electric vehicles. I think that they are amazing pieces of technology, and I will admit that after driving my cousin's new Tesla Model Y during the vacation in California, I kind of want one. However, I wouldn't want one as my sole mode of transportation. If I wanted something more fuel efficient to supplement my Tacoma, I would probably buy a Prius...

 

Funny you mention EV.
I was just on the Tesla website looking at different places and trips one could take.
I honestly didn’t know there were as many EV Charging stations as there are around me.

 

This 2015 DCSB TRD Sport with 81K miles is one of two 2nd Gens I saw at Peruzzi today...

Sounds like an electric Tacoma or Tundra is a long ways off anyways.

I think Gen4 will be optioned with a turbo and/or Hybrid. I don’t see the 2.7 sticking around. It’s just not efficient and it’s pretty old now.

 

This 2008 DCSB is also pretty nice, but it's a base model with no cruise control, and my closest followers know the bullshit I went through with getting cruise control installed in my current truck; I would probably not buy this truck because it lacks cruise control...

I could not find this truck on Peruzzi's website, and thus I could not get the price; I about gasped when I saw that this truck had 142K miles...

Then I realized that my truck is two model years newer, has two fewer cylinders, and has over 13K more miles than this one!

However, I've had my truck since it was brand new with 20 miles, and I know everything that's been done to it; I probably would buy this blue 2008 if it had a new frame...
