It'll be just fine as is, and even more fun when AWD.

Thanks man, and it feels like it, but there are still a few things to track down. Have to buy wheel bearings/hubs for 4wd, front and rear driveshafts, and a few misc brackets and bolts to mount the front differential, but that's about all i lack for parts. Feels like the home stretch anyway

Cut the prerunner crossmember tonight and got some 1/4” steel plate ordered to cap it up. I’m going to use some 1/8 flat bar to gusset the places on the sides and then im going to fully tig weld the areas around the edges where it is only partially welded from the factory.

In other news, this truck is getting the 4.10 gears out of my red truck and the red truck is going back to factory 3.73s soon. Both will have TrueTracs out back and open diff up front for the time being. In my red truck this with the AWD has been sufficient for traction even with the magnuson, so i'm looking forward to how it handles the turbo :D

1/4” boy that should hold just about any amount of Torque!
Any chance you are going to lower the green one like the red one? I want to see the write up on that conversion.

Now Off Topic I have about $3500 worth of Toyota parts in the garage plus a set of new StopTech’s on order. Now waiting for the garage to get below 95 so I can start pulling the new to me white 05 Reg cab 5 lug interior out to CLEAN & replace few pieces of broken plastic, replace the dirty light gray carpet with new factory charcoal carpet, rebuild sport buckets with new lower foam & leather (leather is half the price of Toyota cloth covers) Also need to change the seatbelts because the latches are different between the POS bench to the bucket seats. Anyone have a set of blown seatbelts I can buy or steal the male latches from? Also adding a factory center console yada yada yada. I got new Toyota headlights for a $160 each but the damn painted grill was $270. The old one the plastic center is badly faded…

Also what manual trans lube do you guys recommend or use? RedLine MT or ??. Also what U-joints are recommended & sealed or lube type. No biggie to give than a small shot of lube with every oil change.
Thanks in advance for any feedback and or advice! Robert sorry again for jumping into your thread. I don’t know where else to ask stupid questions plus the members who follow this thread seam to have a lot of mechanical knowledge and experience. Nothing beats experience or learning the hard way or as I call it The School of Hard Knocks. Robert remember the package you received?
Again I really like to thank everyone here for the words of advice and especially the OP. :hattip:

The green one is going to end up with around 2” of lift up front over stock and somewhere around stock ride height out back. I have a +2.25 LT kit waiting to go on, but that’s another project still in progress.

the red one is lowered just using the sos performance 2” front/3.5” rear drop kit. It’s okay for what it is, but there is stuff that will be improved on later. Here’s that build
I like Lucas 85w-140 for gear oil. It has performed far better than the redline MT90 as far as handling added heat. For u-joints I like spicer greasable ones, they have done well for me. The truck quit eating them after i replaced the sealed ones with greasable ones

You’re going to be busy it sounds like!

Used that heavy in the Transmission? What about shifting in the cold winter weather?

Spicer Grease-able  Time to start to start looking…

Yeah Boy, The only two things I haven’t figured out yet is what to do with the paint as it’s the flattest deadest white paint I’ve seen in a very long time so just polish and leave the “Patina” plus polishing more paint off or a repaint?
And the power plant mods as just a few bolt ons (header, mod the stock exhaust, intake and better tuning with a Heltech and maybe a shot of “Nitrous” or save up for an aluminum 5.3 GM engine swap w/ a Tremec TKX 5 speed. As the OP knows I just found a good deal on a new TrueTrac for the diff.
    I plan on 245/50-18’s on 18x8.5 rears w/ 235/50-18’s on 18x8 fronts, so I’m planning on swapping the 3.31 gear for a 3.58 gear I have in a bucket.
Just curious anyone know of anyone who’s run Nitrous on a 2TR? Am I  :der:

Yes i have used that heavy stuff in the trans. Lucas also makes an 80w-90 if you're worried about potential cold shifting issues during the colder months. It also works very well. Does it get very cold where you're at though? Lol your location says convection oven AZ :D

I won't be touching any nitrous, and i havent heard of anyone on here doing that, but i'm sure someone somewhere has. I say save for the v8 or build your 2TR and throw 20-25 lbs of boost at it

Here’s what I went with. Very simple design that uses toyota t-case donor parts. A top shifted part time 4wd FJ case is what you’ll want for a donor that has all the parts you need. Pretty easy to build too, just very time consuming

You may want to give them a call as it looks like their site has changed since I ordered. But yes you’d just want to get another VF2A part time case out of an auto trans FJ for the donor. Mine is different than what you'll need since it's the manual torsen t-case

The transmission pattern you need is VF4, and the t-case pattern is VF2. Also obviously it's top shift, but i think the auto version is "spade type". If you're about to pull the trigger, i'd just give them a ring to make sure you're getting it ordered right. There is quite a long wait time so you don't want to have to wait twice lol

Thanks but NO thanks. I sadly tried to purchase titanium bicycle parts from that Chinese eBay before more than a time or two. Truthfully I purchased three times and all three times was a mistake! Three strikes I’m out‼️
I will never send any vendor from that website another penny‼️ It’s either Junk, you never get what you ordered or it’s not what you ordered… So I’m guessing if you’re lucky enough to get it it’s most likely not going to fit or it won’t last 30 days without falling apart…

Sorry my friend but please delete that post before someone else try’s to purchase.
    I see you didn’t purchase it… :sorry:

Lol yeah it's junk, but other than something custom, that's all there is for the 2TR.. There are a couple of members running those on their turbo builds. might work to get you by until you can find someone to build one

Yeah the photo didn’t look to promising… o_O
Sorry I was under the impression that the 3RZ and the 2TR were basically the same. There’s been a lot of research and development on the 3RZ but why not our 2TR?
I just wish I had the skills to swap in an aluminum block 5.3 GM engine.
So looking like it’s just going to get a few bolt ons and drive like an old man.
