Never knew the snapping turtles were out here. Where I grew up in NH they got to be big enough to flip small cars over when hit on the road.

Wind it up, get it to bite on a rake handle, and lift that sucker out.

I actually moved one out of the road way a couple weeks ago that bad boy had to be close to 80lbs. When they are that size my guess they are anywhere between 50 to 100years old. Gotta respect something that lives longer than we do. Shit they can live up to 150yrs .

 

Would they do that? I am ashamed to admit my attempt at trying to push it into the laundry basket with a broom handle was less than successful.

Broom handle might actually be too thin and get bitten clean through. You need a yard tool with heavy Hickory handle

 

Sorry, I totally missed that! It can keep the broom handle if it wants it. I know when I am beaten…

 

Get it angry, when it bites, it will clamp down hard and won't release. Then you can lift it out and swing it away from you.

If you use a small stick, it will snap and then you may have a flying angry AF snapping turtle hurtling towards you.

 

And THAT is why I am not trying to pick it up by hand!

 

If it comes down to this, I’ll make sure the wife records it for you guys. That, and I’m sure the life insurance people would like to see that as well…

Their claws are quite sharp, triple layer gloves so you won't feel anything and you can't feel anything. Don't drop it, they can run really fast.

I had on two sets of leather gloves. I probably would have grabbed my Arc Flash gear if it was in my truck.
