IMO the XT accelerates more smoothly on the low end and has more power in 6th so that it doesn't downshift as frequently on smaller hills. Shifting is smoother and quieter. Plus I gained 1 to 1.5 mpg. This tune is what you expected from Toyota.

Really? It just seems strange to me that I dont drive it like a sports car. It hardly downshift at all. I'm not pegging it and seeing the needle jump from 1500rpm to 4000rpm. Im not seeing it rev past 4K much at all. And I keep seeing these 20-25mpg highway threads and I can't get over 17MPG. I must be expecting too much???

I am not doing 75+ in my brick...65-70 is where I try to keep it when practical and safe to do so. I will never be up in 19+ if I am going 80 with my "similar setup". Heavy footed driving would certainly return 16-18 for me but it's 18+ for my normal driving habits.

Given your basic stock weight and 265s did you go with the lite or normal throttle? Is the KDMAX tune the latest KDMAX Pro XT?

Met up with @G8R_Taco on Sunday morning and got my 22 Sport updated. Very very pleased with how it drives now. All the quirky shifting is gone, acceleration is linear, power is smooth. All of my trip home was on the highway and used the adaptive cruise control extensively and I'm happy to report there were 0 issues with it. When it slowed down and then accelerated back up into 6th without hesitation. Wife drove it yesterday afternoon and even she was impressed with the difference and she does not typically notice things like that. Went with the Lite throttle setting and am very happy.

Went out at lunch and got the opportunity to pass a big rig on a 2 lane road...pinned the throttle and was surprised how much more torque and power there is in the upper RPMs.

I have the same wheels and tire size. Mostly stock just the rear steel bumper. PRO+XT is the latest. Holds gear longer on 5th, more torque and more refined. I'm not that heavy on the pedal...just when I need to on the freeway...So I get good MPG.

I have the latest version too. What MPG do you usually get roaming around town?

I've been trying out all the throttle versions....never thought I would love the lite throttle. It's so easy to 'control' and isn't jerky when you let off the gas and get back on it as opposed to the sport throttle. If you guys haven't tried that one and can easily flash your own truck, I'd give it a try and you might enjoy it.

Thank you, sir. Just went back and reviewed page 1 of thread... so just so I'm clear: Pro evolved into Pro+, which in turn evolved into Pro+XT?

And if I decide I want to update to Pro+XT, would I just contact the same gent who set me up with my initial install of Pro? Thanks.

I agree. It is fun to be the first one off the light, but the Lite doesn't snap the head of your passengers. I'm gentle on the throttle and even the normal was too jerky, when you aren't loaded with weight.

I got my truck tuned with Pro+XT about two weeks ago with @TWTaco Dave here in SoCal and I couldn't be happier. I was waiting some time before I wrote up the review here just to make sure I was 100% on it and that I was able to run a few tanks of gas through the truck.

To say the least, the truck has a solid increase in power and I've definitely gained some MPG's back after my switch to 33's. I've run 2.5 full tanks through the truck with a mixture of street and highway driving and am on par mileage-wise with what my truck made in stock form! Street driving nets me about 16mpg and all highway I was able to get 18.5, averaging out to ~17.2 mixed which is exactly what I had when the truck was stock. Very happy with the increase in power and MPG, plus the shift points are absolutely phenomenal. I opted for the Sport throttle and, although it's definitely touchy on tip-in, I love it. The way I drive, that throttle profile matches perfectly. I'm sure I could get better MPG if I didn't cruise at 75, but that's the average speed here in SoCal so it's hard to want to drive slower. Plus, I tend to have a heavy foot anyway.

I highly recommend this tune if you're looking for something to wake up your truck and increase drivability and overall enjoyment factor!

Good job @TWTaco and @PapaRee on the development of this fine tune.

I went with the lite as well. Basically a stock truck with 90 extra lbs for a tonneau cover, and its perfect for me. Easily controllable at low speeds, not jumpy at all, but when you want to jump on it, it's there.

Thanks for the review Cory glad you are enjoying the Pro+XT. Remember your speedo is going to be off now that you added the 33's. Your 75 could be closer to 80. You can check highway speed with your GPS on your phone.

Yes sir! This was all adjusted numbers to compensate, haha! But ... i definitely do cruise at 80 quite often either way.
