Yeah I think it’ll look pretty good. I dig the truggy bed especially on access cabs, but I really liked how these looked ratchet strapped on there haha gonna cut them down about a foot and use the OEM taillights but no bed or tailgate parts.

Gonna be what I do. Dig the truggy look but bedsides will go back on.

Was gonna bob the bed but ended up not being able to shorten the frame up enough to be worth while because the shackles.

Got a jump start on it tonight. I think it’ll work out alright. I have low expectations so I’m always pleasantly surprised :washing:

Looks good. Yeah I could probably ditch 8” off the back but welding my fiberglass bedsides back is a little tougher.

All of our 2nd gen trucks, what’s the front bump stops are we going with? I’m looking for the Sumo ones, my stock ones work…. Till I hit a G out and shoved the upper control arm bolt into my apron. It saved my shocks but I really wish the second gen had some king bumps I could throw on them or something better.

There's multiple bump stop options available for the 2nd gen but most of them don't limit up travel themselves and bump out at the factory height. You typically have to add a spacer to the bump to limit up travel if you're having rubbing issues. Durobumps is the only one I'm aware of that offers a bump stop with built in spacer.

You could also go hydros up front but that's a entirely different can of worms with their own pros/cons.

I already have the total chaos spacer it came with and on the stock bumps. I’ve been debating making a 3rd gen king front bump setup work but then I run into the issue that I’m not sure the lower control arm was ever intended for that much force in a new spot on the control arms.

I don’t care so much about the aprons or anything other than the shocks getting blown up. I’m rather surprised it was able to still go up that high while hitting the bumps.

I just finished up my long travel build this weekend and i have super bumps. Used my old rear stock u bolt mounting plate as an extension. Just so happened to be the height i needed. Just cut the ends off and welded it to the frame in stock location. Seems to work well.

I'm curious to know what the difference between the 2nd & 3rd gen would be in that regards. I thought the frames were very similar as far as geometry goes.

That would be a concern. I would be weary of running a hydro to an LCA that isn't reinforced to handle the load. You also have to be cautious of running hydros on an IFS as they typically engage early in the travel if not properly setup. Lots to consider there.

Your shocks should be fine as long as you're not bottoming them out on hard hits. The best way to confirm is to install the shock with the spring removed and fully cycle. If it's that big of a concern for you.

How much up travel do you have with that setup? How far is the bump from the LCA at ride height?

About 2- 2.5 inches. . About .25 from bump stop. If id dint have it setup that way the upper uni cup would bind before the bump stopped it. I could fix it to get more but im fine with it for now. Still about an inch .25 of travel left in the shock. When i decide to cut more off the fender as well might revisit it knowing ive got travel in the tank.

I'd have a hard time accepting that knowing what going LT costs. If you're happy with it that's all that matters though!

Let's long travel the truck and then limit travel with bump stop spacers. Are we more concerned with the clout or actual function?

These drop in the 12 or 6 bolt fuel cells with adjustable depth. I have used them on 2nd gen tacomas but the 3rd gen runs a returnless fuel system. I have used the same motobuilt products you have in the past and haven't had leaking issues - mounting them in to Jaz fuel cells. I order the plastic liner without any holes cut in it to make everything fit.

Very nice, thanks for that. Same voltage as taco pump? Work with the factory gauges? Can’t find any info and haven’t put a voltmeter on it. I’m debating sliding the stock tank under my spare and calling it a day. Only reason I went with a fuel cell is fit and form and with bedsides I won’t be seeing much of the plastic tank. Unless I missing something.

Edit: best I can tell the clamping ring is leaking in between the two laminated steel pieces that form the single ring. I sealed around the inner lip, but it must be leaking through the bolt holes and in between. Tired of screwing with it honestly.

Ive got enough travel right now for what i do, looking at getting another off road vehicle to use as a tow/ overland vehicle as my truck is setup right now to do it all. I just wanted to catch my front up with the rear. I’m definitely happy

There isn't a float or sending unit on this pump assembly so the gauge won't work.
