    My two biggest problems with California are that (A) your car has to pass a smog test in order to be registered, and (B) that all cars 1976 and newer have to pass a smog test.

    We have emissions testing in Pennsylvania, but it's much less strict than in California and not tied to registration.

    Going back to the whole California smog thing, my uncle who lives in Monterey has two Volkswagen vans, a 1971 Bus and a 1977 Westfalia camper. The 1971 is exempt from smog, but the 1977 is not. The 1977 originally had a temperamental fuel injected motor, but the previous owner replaced it with a carbureted motor from a 1974 bus. In Pennsylvania and every other state, you could put antique tags on it and call it a day.

    The eco-bureaucrats in California won't even do a smog test on my uncle's camper because it doesn't have the original engine, but luckily he has a brother who lives in Texas, so he just registers it there!

    I'd be a criminal in California because I prefer gas stoves to electric ones. Apparently, it is illegal to install a gas stove in a new construction home in LA?!?!
