If you look back at the development of modern EVs you’ll see a pretty steady increase in battery density/performance and a decrease in charge times. By the time we can no longer purchase fossil fuel vehicles I don’t think there will be much of a concern with either range or recharge times in all but the most uncommon use cases.

I couldn't find their source, but even if what they provide is true (that would be asking a lot for a hit piece on truck owners), it doesn't say much.

Also the data is presented strangely.
"And a full 35 percent of truck owners use their truck for hauling—putting something in the bed, its ostensible raison d’être—once a year or less."
That could mean 65% use the truck to haul all the time, 25% tow all the time, and 30% are off roading all the time. Sounds like these people need their trucks

The study is referenced in a wide range of articles and the company that does the study is a real and reputable company. There are a number of other studies from other sources that provide similar results as well.

I’m not saying some people don’t need trucks, just that MOST people don’t and would be fine with a car. Trucks and SUVs are just nice to haves in most cases. Obviously people can buy whatever they want, no skin off my back.

Wow. This nerd-fest is still going strong, lol. The EV crowd is quickly becoming the next group of Vegans and CrossFitters that never shut up about it... We get it. You're passionate. Congratulations. :bored:

. After reading through this thread it's become obvious the EV crowd is really quite small. It's like they keep plugging this thread into a wall socket and it's just (trickling) along, never getting a full charge. Probably what they're going to do with their new EV's when they get them.

Mostly electrical shit that nobody cares about.
Rivian looks like an elephant's cunt. You'd sooner catch me in a Frontier or Ridgeline. What the fuck is that Frida Kahlo headlight? Who's idea was that???

Talk about your up to date pop culture reference! I think this looks much closer to your description:

To be fair if you bothered to read 70 pages of this at this point it's largely the folks who refuse to give up their vroom vroom truck that dominate the conversation. The EV crew are mostly saying "ok if its not a good fit stop posting" in response to a never-ending onslaught of "but I tow!!" from the same 3 people who don't know what to do when people don't agree with them... except post more. Talk about a dead horse.

It's really just 70 pages of C grade boomer posts like this one, posted at people who own the same truck as them. :angrygirl:

You've got 93 posts, most of which are on this rivian thread. If you look at the site your on it says Tacomaworld? Are you getting this yet? You should find a Rivian site,,, you'd be more welcome there.

Ummmm, "to be fair", I have read all 76 pages, laughing the entire time. Mainly at you. But you couldn't possibly know that without me telling you. So feel free to continue assuming, because, you know, if the shoe fits. I'll continue to be amused at the pathetic nature of this thread, you included. Good talk, though. Thanks.

You'll note that the first of of those posts was me saying that I bought an R1T, decided it didn't fit my purposes and that I preferred my Taco and sold it. I just can't help but engage with the "electricity is scary" crowd because I have brain damage.

The guy who won't sleep with his phone charging next to his bed because it'll explode and kill him really made my whole day and I just couldn't leave the thread after the gem.

If you didn't like your Rivian, why are you arguing with everyone that doesn't like them either? Maybe you should spend your time telling all of us why you (like) your Tacoma?

I'm not arguing with anyone who says it doesn't fit their lifestyle. I've never argued with anyone about what car they want because I think a car has some objective measures and then a shitton of subjective ones. If you want a coupe that isn't practical, go for it. If you want a Taco and you never use the bed or tow, go for it.

I've only ever argued against people who are just blatantly wrong about trivially objective things like math: like the guy who said it'd take 32 hours to drive CO to Moab instead of 5 or the people who said their phones are going to explode and kill them in their sleep, etc. Liking what you like without needing to justify it to anyone = cool. Being uneducated and scared of new technology and actively resistant to learning about it = uncool. We'll eventually see hybridised and electric Tacomas and learning is fun.

No shortage of threads for that, either. The flipside works: if you don't think EV trucks make sense, bail on over to those other threads.

The thread title is Tacoma vs Rivian? On Tacomaworld, right? You've been making an argument with guys all through this thread. Maybe you're an argument looking for a reason? I'm not. See ya later.
