I’ll give my .02…. After getting a Tesla Y through Hertz on accident (their fault and upgraded us to a Tesla), driving it for a week changed my mind on EVs. Grant it, the Tesla Y is no truck or Rivian, I have a new spot in my heart for all electric vehicles. I was in a more remote part of Wisconsin and still had no issue with charging it. It only cost about $60ish for almost 650 miles of driving. Compared to the $80 it costs to go 275 in my Tacoma. It was insanely comfortable and being able to stab the throttle and just obliterate whoever your passing, the wife and I loved the electric performance. However, I love my truck. Hell I prefer being able to hear the sad and pitiful four banger in my wife’s outlander over no engine sound. Nothing beats ICE…. For now.

That's part of why I hope they'll do a hybrid Tacoma at some point. We see an honestly kind of embarrassing amount of posts about MPG where people seem surprised to learn their truck gets shitty mileage, so it's obviously important to folks. A plug-in hybrid solves a lot of the MPG complaints, provides substantial additional peak torque and still sounds like fun when you want it to.

It's still a big step esp. in the truck world though because you lose the ability to pop the hood and be able to maintain your own car trivially. That's still the case in most modern full sizes with more electronics but it'll be a big hurdle nonetheless.

Also hybridization typically comes along with less displacement/cylinders and some people can’t give that up because they “need” it.

That’s because I wanted it and I could afford it, and also I’m planning on selling my Tacoma to friends that are retiring and plan on towing a tear drop trailer. Also I have no problem admitting that my stock Tacoma was a dog.

Your comparison of my statement about hybridization being the equivalent of me adding forced induction to the existing motor is laughable. If I swapped in the new turbo hybrid four cylinder that the Crown, and most likely the new Tacoma, are getting then you’d have an equivalent comparison.

These people's contradictions don't matter to them. Neither does the relevance of their assumptions. As long as they can vigorously and tirelessly spout anything and everything "EV this" and "EV that", that's all that they're really after. I mean, the evidence is in the username; @WaitingOnMyTampons. He's letting us know exactly what his priorities are, so that there isn't a single question about it. I mentioned it earlier. These people are super fucking passionate. :jerkoff:

Better. Still not great, but better… & come on. It’s just jokes. You sound like that group of weirdos who’ve been so upset trying to cancel Dave Chappelle. Stop it. Laugh at yourself. Because you also have to admit that there isn’t any misinterpreting your username. You’re putting it out there for EVERYONE to see, along with your commentary on the matter, lol. That’s passion, and it’s kinda funny.

I’m surprised you didn’t take the obvious “circle jerk” comeback that I accidentally set you up for.

What if you end up hating the Rivian you’ve waited years for and hyped up to everyone? Will you admit it? It’s strange to love something so much that you don’t even have yet.

Saw a Rivian the other day here on Long Island. Looked pretty cool.

I test drove it and spent about 30 minutes checking it out and it was better than I expected. I’m not sure if I’ll be allowed to post my opinion on the R1T once I have it since some people can only read about Tacomas on their Tacoma forum.

There's worse places to be. On the TRX forum I keep an eye on if you even mention EVs it explodes into wild theories about the new world order government, communists, climate change lies and even further down the rabbit hole. Quite entertaining.
