I wish I could say that I am taking part in the profits for that machine, but I sold my last E30 6 years ago. In the E36 game now. For now.

I worked on a few of those when I was in Germany. A local guy has a 1985 635 CSi that I would live to talk him out of.

I learned to drive stick on an E36 325... What's the market like for non-M3 E36'es these days? I know the 318ti is kind of like a weird cult classic but what about the basic bitch 4 door sedans?

To me? Wayyyy too high. All E36's are overpriced now, even the 318ti (which I think is awesome, especially with M3 trim upgrades).

But I was in the game back when they were a dime a dozen for $2,000 all day. Same with E30's. The market has shifted. I wouldn't spend what people want for them now, they just aren't that good.

Damn. Every now and again I get the idea it would be nice to find one that needs a little TLC, make it a project, but then again I know how much of a money pit project cars are for me because I end up wanting everything perfect.:anonymous:

Yep. I know just what you mean.

After 522 hours, and 16,640 dollars, my E36 still looks like this...........

[IMG]First Time Outside in 2022 by Michael Rickerd, on Flickr

Granted, an extreme build, but I could easily get $50,000 into this to make it what I really, really want.

Pretty much why I'll be selling the C5 before relocating to UT in the spring...it's stock with only a header back exhaust and adjustable sway bars...the Corvette tax is real!

Besides, I don't need a third money pit

In effect, that is "vicariously avoiding penuriousness" right?

You know, we're somewhat of a curious lot, tacoma owners that is. Always looking for the next thing to plunge money into off-road efficacy while maintaining a love for the pavement. Kinda like country and rock-n-roller music fans. At least I think of that every time I peruse Craigslist or the classified forums for some aftermarket/TRD Pro part when what I have does what I need it to

Yep that is basically it! I am always looking into other avenues to throw money and something cool or fun. Especially if it has a motor and can frustrate me.

Does anyone know of some dispersed camping near page? I've seen people camp near horseshoe bend but I cant find anything that's not designated camp ground. I like to get away from people but don't know if its possible out there.

How near Page do you need to be?

Alstrom point is just up the 89, as is the backside of Lake Powell. Loads and loads of fun stuff up there north of Page.

Pretty much everything around Page proper is reservation...you need to cross the river to get into the GCNRA or BLM land.

Like @MR E30 said, Alstrom Point is always a solid choice, as is Crosby Canyon on the way there. Also a good area is up Smokey Mountain Road and the Kelly Grade...

Smoky Mountain Road has some cool sites along its route as well.

I love that area. If you're willing to drive north a bit you are in a seriously cool place.

    Same!

Taking Smokey Mountain to Left Hand Collet out to Hole In the Rock is another cool route...

Any idea how far those spots are from in town? an hour or so from campsite? It says Alstrom Point is 41 miles from page but only 11 miles from pavment from what I can see, Im not really worried about how long it would take to get out there and find a spot more worried about how long it would get back to town any guesses on how long it would be back into town from some of those spots?

Alstrom Point is 25 miles from the 89, with only the last mile or two being slightly technical...probably take at least a good hour plus to get back into Page.
