Our well is 200' deep, less any sediment buildup, last 32 years. The pump is at 170'. My well guy says the new ones won't last that long (and cost 4X as much). The pressure tank was replaced last year. I've heard some can be repaired. My old one looked like it came apart in the middle, but the new one doesn't look like it. I wouldn't want to try it. Need to get it up and running asap. Got the largest one I could get in the space. It was about the same price as two smaller tanks of similar volume. The pump only runs maybe once a day, hoping that will prolong the inevitable. SFSG.

    Afternoon all:
I may have to replace either the pressure tank or the well pump shortly, the pressure tank is 12 yrs. old, and nothing is made to last anymore.
Just was told about an oil company in our area that is right now 30c a gal. cheaper than where I usually get mine, may have to switch companies! I see the oil trucks quite a bit and it's not a shoddy business, the place I get mine is usually cheaper than other places but maybe the greed factor has kicked in since he bought the country club up the street from me!

From where I usually get it $4.099 gal., from the other company $3.799 gal.
The price does vary at the other company depending on the amount of gallons ordered, but that's what it is for the amount that I got.
    Here's the breakdown:
    GAL:
    50-99----$4.299
    100-149-$3.899
    *150-299-$3.799
    300-499-$3.759
    500-999-$3.749
    1000+---$3.739

:pccoffee:Good Morning Porch Pals & Gal! Back to Austin for the two Doctors and an errand. Interesting time at the Good Feet place - I'll explain that one in a while. After this, back to stay at home and catch up the putz. Be mowing time before I know it.

Dave, I have never heard of a factory seconds battery. Is it usually a cosmetic defect?

Today will be a no project day. I will try to get a doctor's appointment for watery, itchy eyes. It has been almost a week now with the problem. My home cure does not seem to be working. Tested negative for C19 with a home test.

Here's something for us old folks. George Poteet is at Bonneville, in the Speed Demon streamliner, looking to hit 500 mph, and break the 470ish record for ICE . George is 74.
The guy that builds those 3800 HP engines for him? You might have heard of: Kenny Duttweiler. He's only 83.

Yep, cosmetic defects to the casing. Functionally they are normal batteries. I've run them in all sorts of vehicles, never a problem. They used to put a big sticker on them that said "The Usable". If you google that you will find threads in various places asking "WTH is 'The Usable' battery?"

Pretty sure the Salt has been shut down for this year. They got a big storm and the track is under water from what I hear.

I saw a picture if the warranty. I know they got some trials in, but I don't know the outcome overall . At any rate, those guys will each be a year older next time.
    Edit
I don't know how of the water turned into the above....

They are available at the Deka battery plant and at an Interstate battery warehouse near me, they call them "blems", and like Dave said it's normally a cosmetic defect in the case that give them that definition.

2" gully washer rain last night. Mowing ~ every four days, if rain stops long enough. Last time I mowed it was late because of the rain. I thought it would be a mess, but once it dried a bit, looked pretty good. Wet or dry, if it cools off a bit, I'm on it. Then I need to trim some smaller tree limbs away from the roof, before they get too big for a pole saw.

When I'm out mowing or whatever, people sometimes stop to ask directions. This Covid crap has slowed that down. They're afraid I have it, I'm afraid they have it. Works for everyone.

Haven't mowed my lawn in about a month, first because of the drought, and then I got covid. Hopefully I feel well enough to cut it this weekend.

Good morning to those aged to perfection. 16 more days of work and then I am officially retired from government service. It's amazing how senior executive management couldn't care about you until they know my time is about up. All of a sudden there's a panic on who is going to take care of this and that. I was nice in giving a month notice but all of a sudden the questions and request are coming out of the woodwork. Projects that are months at the least to be completed are being requested to be completed in days and from multiple divisions. It won't happen. I truly worry about what I'm leaving undone. No one has applied for my position and they don't want it. When stuff doesn't get done as it should, it will be on the nightly local news. Oh well, I've warned the executives for years that they need to invest in technology infrastructure and it's documented. Someday I can talk more.

On the lawn comments above. We have a severe drought also. I've hit my dry spots with a wetting agent and it's really helping. Water drops into the soil quickly. Look into that. Have a good day everyone.

Pretty impressive speeds for the 2.5-mile course. The website still lists the 2022 dates starting September 7th. If you have never been to speed week you need to go at least once. It will be an amazing visit.

Music lesson today and then off to a Kenny Chesney concert tonight. My eye irritations and nasal congestion were getting worse so I called the doctor. Did a teleconference call and received prescriptions for eye drops and a nasal spray. I seemed to be better this morning. I did test negative for C19.

    Good Morning Everyone.

My Golden Retriever passed away suddenly. Heart Failure due to cancer. Sadly familiar to Golden Retrievers. Usual morning, short walk, took her to the Surgical Vet for her six-week post-ACL checkup. She greeted the staff and a few other dogs and motioned for me to sit down (Service Dog, I learned to trust her). No sooner had I sat down than she collapsed. A wonderful friend who is missed.

My wife was finally discharged after spending a month at the hospital. The original plan was surgery on July 5th, home a week I ended. Ended up with four surgeries, finally getting discharged on August 2nd. Utterly unique, she has bounced back after surgeries. Still, a ways to go, but good to have her home.

Total Knee Replacement was done on August 4th. Stryker Triathlon installed. I told my doc, Great, I can return to doing Triathlons!" Not so fast, just an unfortunate naming for "long-lasting." There is an elastomer inside at the base of the knee, so marathon runners will find they need to have it replaced after ten years. I planned for an epidural, but there was not enough gap in my spine to allow the needle, so I had to go with General anesthesia. On-Q pain pump was installed to give the nerve four days of pain relief. I can not use opioids as they shut my colon down, nor NSAIDs due to a history of stomach ulcers. Tylenol helps, but I wish I had something more potent. Lots of water and zero alcohol while taking Tylenol. Not fun.
