Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
fake sourdough there too. It's cheap white bread with some flavor added that's supposed to make it like sourdough.

Have been there once or twice with family, thought it was fairly gross. Not the healthiest looking clientele either, they probably could use some vegan sausage patties…

The only time I’ve ever been was because they were next to the Supercharger in Buckeye, Arizona. Agreed that that was enough.

Only thing worse is Golden Corral. Wife’s stepdad (boomer) took us there for a “fancy” dinner out. Cripes! Just a giant Petri dish. Ummmm, I’ll just have salad…looking at the lettuce floating in water, err no thanks.

No wonder health care is a mess in this country…

Could you give the specifics why it didn’t work other than it didn’t fit your purposes? I am not anti-EV, and kinda like the Rivian other than its headlights, but range is a big thing for me. Love the 400+ miles I get with my Toyota. There is another thread about what people want out of an EV Tacoma. Would think having the same or better capabilities of the current one. So range and “refuel” times need to be the same or better.

Range was never an issue for me but I already have other EV so it wasn’t a new concept to me. I think it depends where I’m the US you are but out west it’s never difficult to find a charger and they’re regularly at NP entrances, etc.

My issues were with wheeling. I don’t go too hard but I’ll regularly hit some moderate to advanced trails and I found the approach angle to be limiting with no aftermarket options and no ability to fit a winch. A winch is supposedly coming but it’s pretty rough out here in snow country without one.

I also found the bed to be a bit of an after thought. For example there are no rails at all so unless you want to drill some L track in on your own, you aren’t mounting traction boards, etc.

I thought the air suspension was largely an improvement and appreciated being able to get 15” ground clearance at the push of a button but back down to 8” for on high way performance to be pretty compelling. But it didn’t save the setting so every time you got back in you had to remember to raise it causing at least one incident of me smashing a skid plate harder than I expected to.

Thanks. Don’t wheel the Taco too too much anymore, though do like those out of the way camp spots. Rivian probably be fine.

I am more of a Nation Forest camper than NP, chargers are a bit lean once you get out of the populated areas. Could do camp grounds, but I am anti-campground for obvious reasons.

With the raised suspension height, does it loose ride compliance?

Do pull a small moto trailer, so range is a concern, though doesn’t seem to effect the Tacoma, getting 22.5 in town and on trips. Seems like the stop and go in town, is about the same as the drag of the trailer on the highways.

Yeah, I think the R1T would be fine on the typical out of the way washboard/dirt trails and even light technical offroading (thinking like Bear Valley, CA). I think if all you did was light offroading and more overland style dirt roads/fire roads/etc, an R1T would actually probably be a fairly substantial upgrade. The interior is much nicer, the 120V outlets actually produce meaningful wattage, the air suspension feels great off road and on-round with very limited body roll in turns (because the air suspension lowers the truck and the battery weight keeps it planted). It's unfortunate that the bed is such an afterthought because I think it appeals great to that overland crowd with it's features... but then you just can't make meaningful use of the bed like you would on a Tacoma.

Rivian's use Electrify Americas network so you could check accessibility for you personally to chargers pretty easily. You can see it's pretty good on the coasts and throughout the south but pretty rough if you're in MT, ND, SD. You can use non-EA chargers obviously so the map is better but EAs map is generally pretty representative of charging in general in the US. Teslas network is better and supposedly in 2023 they'll be allowing non-Teslas to use their network which will be huge.

If you pull the moto trailer over long distances or you towed a teardrop or something, I'd say it's a no go right now personally. Range hit is big with big towing loads. I noticed pretty minimal hits towing my snowmobile trailer short distances to trailheads but I never towed it 200 miles into the forest kinda thing.

The interior looks super nice, though don’t hate the Tacoma either. Both are too nice for me though, in the dirt an awful lot.

Charging is fairly lean here in Idaho, not saying it couldn’t be done. We like to setup base camp, then go exploring, that is the fear of running it near dead with no means of recharge in sight. Topping off the batteries with a generator, solar, micro hydro isn’t practical for now. If it ever does become practical that would solved the dispersed camping issue. That or have batteries with better range, 400+ would be ideal.

As long as it has tie down points to haul bikes that is only really all I need. Not much into bed racks, since most everything goes on the trailer. Going to convert my moto trailer into a pop up square drop this winter.

Check out plugshare.com. You can sort it by type of plug so it only shows you what is compatible with the vehicle you select. Anything from standard 110v outlets people let you use to full DC fast chargers are shown.

Did you notice any range difference with a bed full of gear? I’m wondering how much range you would lose with a family of four inside and a bed full of camping gear, luggage and bikes. Do you know if anyone makes a ladder rack for it like a Thule Xsporter.
I drove by a Rivian this morning head on and those headlights are so weird. It would be such a great looking truck without them.

I have not test driven a rivian, nor do I have one order. I dont like the giant screens they put in so many cars. Saw a giant screen in a rivian. I’m pretty sure f-150 come with a 42” screen in the cabin. My taco has a tiny screen. I’m good with that

i dont care for them because going through menus to adjust the AC or do things on the fly while driving poses as a distraction for me personally. Reaching over and feeling a knob or button that i know does what i want it to do without taking my eyes off the road is what i prefer
