Its the fact is has 3 owners, an accident on the carfax and almost 100k. Truck will prob be fine but its only around a 25k ish truck. It could be a really bad financial move since he's gonna be about 10k upside down on his loan. If the truck starts having issues he's gonna go broke tryin to sell it

For 35k you can find a CPO Tacoma from a Toyota dealer and have a powertrain warranty to 100k

Agree. But it wasn't a sound investment with the high mileage. I don't know the OP's financial situation, but I'd bet he wouldn't be happy with a $10,000 bill on top of his $600+ monthly payment.

My buddies brother financed a used buick a few years ago. He was living at home with his mom, barely able to pay his bills. The Buick took a crap on him, and he had to take out a high interest personal loan to pay the $7k repair bill. Now he has 2 payments, is way under water with this Buick and he can't give it away.

Yeah, I am not saying he did not over pay here, but its kind of hard not to these days! He may in fact be stuck with this purchase and I was wanting him to know that this does not automatically mean he has bought himself a major problem child here.

Maybe he did buy a worn out piece of shit, I don't fuckling know! But again the odds are that this truck will serve him well as most Tacos do. Good luck OP!

PS: LOL at the Buick comparison! :)

If you're looking for pavement peeling power, Tacoma ain't it. It won't in any races, and it can't pull a house off of its foundation. But, they seem to be a good, dependable midsize truck. Three owners in three years could mean trouble or could mean prior owners who wanted a tiger and found Tacoma is a mountain goat not in a hurry to get anywhere but very surefooted.

If you're dead set on getting rid of it, might get back out what you paid or close to it on a trade since those guys are hurting badly for used vehicles. Or, could make a good hand me down to a teenager. Everybody always seems to have a teenager somewhere in the extended family looking for a first car to drive. When I first got mine, I wasn't happy with its under powered nature but have since gotten used to driving low powered vehicles again. It's quite a step down from an F150 EB 3.5 with a 10-speed and 3:55s in the diffs. Nearly ran over a Honda Civic on the test drive of that F150.

Wow these prices are insane. I payed about 36k on mine in dec 2019 for a off road premium. OP try to return it. Perhaps look at the Nissan Frontier.. way better power train then the Tacoma.

You wouldn't be interested in some land thats for sale near here...it's pretty reasonable, but its surrounded by wetlands.

Haha I wouldn’t but not in the best place to get some land right now.

Here’s the thing. The finance application I had used expired on 8/4/22. They took it still and just waiting on the bank to finalize everything. So I walked out the door with jsut the truck and some paperwork. In this scenario I feel there is still some time to return it.

In all, I’ve tried reaching out to the dealership salesman and another sales guy I was supposed to talk with and neither has reached back out yet.
I kind of figured I was over paying for it. Had a feeling that this might not be the truck for me.

main use besides a daily, would taking it to the coast to surf fish and hauling a jon boat/kayak.

God dame… $35k for 94k mileage. Return it if you can. You can buy a new one a little over that price.

haha the one time I don’t double think it. it seemed like a good price at first since it was 2019 and had 4x4 since some 2018 trd 4x4 here with aorund 40-60k miles go
    For around 36k and up

it didn’t seem like a bad deal haha

The dealer is not returning your calls because they don’t want this truck back. You need to drive there tonight if time or first thing in the morning to return.

Slow and sluggish???? Dude I drove over 5 states in 2 days and let’s say very few people past me. My truck has never been slow or sluggish nor has it ever had any shifting issues. Most people never learn how their skinny pedal works on their car. This trucks skinny pedal needs a special touch to make it run smooth. Just drive the truck for awhile and learn to enjoy it, if you can’t do that dump it now or you will join the crown who come on here and complain about every little thing on this truck.

Fair enough man. I tried pushing it a little more and started to noticed it was a driving a little better than the first two days I’ve had it. Soo maybe. I think it’s just the price I bought it thats making me return with all the miles on it.

maybe you are overthinking this... These days people flip cars and trucks like they used to flip houses.

the used car market is crazy nuts... people even start countless threads right here on TW

" carshamma '' or my dealership offered me yadda yadda...wut should I do?

10% more power doesn’t = “way better” when no one has any idea how reliable these new Frontiers are yet. And it’s a Nissan, so… there’s that. On the other hand, the Tacoma’s version of the 3.5 has been out for 7 years now and is proving to be an extremely reliable engine (not counting all the other vehicles this block has been used in going all the way back to 2004). It might not be the most powerful in its class, but it’s by far the most bulletproof of anything else out there. I’d way rather have 10% less power and make it to 300K+ with good maintenance. I’d personally have no expectations of that for any Nissan made in the last 20 years.

Return is ASAP if you can and order or find a new one. I just purchased a new 2022 Sport DCSB Manual 4x4 a month ago for $41k. The extra 5 or 6k won’t kill ya and you’ll have a brand new truck.

I was talking to the OP. He complained about the Tacoma being slow and sluggish and I gave him a alternative he could look into. The Nissan makes more power lower in the rpm range and has more gears in the transmission. Would I buy a Nissan? No. But the OP can go test drive one and make up his own mind.

Seriously, try to return the truck. Theres gotta be tacoma's out there with less mileage that cost less. Even if you have to go out of state, your going to be better off.
