Be sure to get a timing chain kit for it when you buy it. Parts and labor around $1200 The only thing on the road that doesn't have engine failure of some sort is electric. In every vehicle engine failure happens it is a very small percentage. I'm old enough to remember cars making it to 70K with out some thing going wrong was amazing.

 

True that stuff happens, my Colorado was still under powertrain plus the "secret warranty" on that part of the engine.

 

Plenty of electric cars on the road have motor failure. A quick Google search shows Tesla model 3, model Y and model S all have had motor failures. Not a huge number, but they do happen.

 

I think he was being pedantic... electric cars have motors; not engines.

 

I get a lot of shit from my neighbors for buying an extended warranty but what they did not know is in AZ. I paid taxes on the value of my trade in which was $19,000 instead of the new vehicle price tag of $38,300. I put that $1,600 that I saved on taxes to pay for the warranty which I believe was $2,400. I owed $19,000 on my trade in but dealer gave me $19,500. So that left me $300 to pay for an extended warranty. I went for it.

Not really.. I didn’t design, engineer or manufacture the engine that was defective, I just bought into the hype that Toyota was good at those three things and was wrong in that assumption. Conspiracy? no, ignorance and greed yes.

My paint may be falling off but at least the engine is still running, hopefully it keeps moving long enough to trade it in.

 

Are Toyotas known for paint fading off fairly quick?

 

2nd and 3rd gen Tacoma white ones for sure. Some other colors had some short bad runs as well, some 2017 blazing blue pearl Tacomas.

Both my white 2021 Camry and white 2022 Tacoma have like a crack on the roof. I may have them install that xpel on the roof to prevent it from coming off.

 

Toyota super white is single stage paint vs most other colors being base + clear coat. I feel this is the main reason Toyota white peels/fails so often. Can search on this site, or Google tacoma white paint fail, and you will find tons of examples.
