Finished the long and complicated road of a "LCA busing replacement", which ended with TC LCA's, full shock rebuild, UCA Balljoint...

Quick question: is 5.5* caster too much for these trucks? Alignment shop set it like that and steering feels awful

I don't know, man. Mine were OEM at 205,xxx. I only did them because when I got inspected last October, the tech said the material was at 3/32 and not going to pass this year. When I stuck my calipers on them? Still at 3/32...

I'd check them before buying because you might be only halfway there. That'd give you a chance to just clean up and anti-seize the hell out of everything so if you do end up needing to do it down the road, everything comes apart nicely...

If you decide to go ahead, my daughter will be staying in the Fairfax area in a couple of weeks! She only charges $50/hr...

If its been that long, buy them to replace. I checked on mine last year and it took literally an hour to back off the wheel to get the drums off. I am positive they are OEM, and they shoes where fine, maybe half life, but the drums are so worn in that it was really hard to pull them off and took forever for them to tighten back up. I would have just replaced them if I had them on hand at the time.

Hmmm, never heard that before, but that doesn't mean anything. Maybe take the drum off to have a look? If things look good, I'd be inclined to hose everything down with brake cleaner, put a light coat of oil on the spring attachment points, coat the area where the rotor meets the wheel, and call it a day!

Oh, fwiw, one drum came off without too much trouble but the neighbors thought I was going crazy on the other one. A 4 lb sledge and I was whaling on that sucker for minutes before it broke loose! :muscleflexing:
