EZ Pass is used in most states east of the Mississippi River. In PA you can pick one up at Walmart Customer Service or any service plaza on the turnpike. The unit itself they charge you 3.00 for and it's pretty much a glorified RFID chip. They charge $35.00 up front which is held in an account in your name and registered to your transponder. Every time you use a toll road in PA or neighboring states that use the same system, they deduct money from your account. When you set up your account online you tie it to a checking account or credit card. When your account drops to $10 they automatically charge your card $35 and hold it again until it drops to $10 and the cycle repeats.

EZ Pass rate is slightly more than half of what they would charge for toll by plate or cash. There is a special transponder for motorcycles and it gets almost an additional 50% off the auto rate. You can use an auto pass on a bike but then you pay the auto rate. You are not permitted to use a motorcycle pass on a car or truck. If you travel a lot they can be really handy. Toll bridges and tunnels in NY, NJ, MD, and more all use this system. Some roads even offer high speed tolling, and you don't even need to slow down passing under those sensors.

My cousin and her husband established a boat rental company called BAE Boats (Bay Area Electric Boats) on the Oakland Estuary about a year and a half ago, and the currently have a fleet of six Duffy 21-foot electric boats; I believe that they four boats with the uncovered area in the back, while the other two (not pictured) only have the covered area. Here are some pictures of some of their boats!

 

Here I am driving one of the boats last Thursday. The boats only have like 5 horsepower and only go like 6 MPH, but they feel a lot faster than they actually are, handle really good, and are a lot of fun to drive! It's almost like driving a golf cart on the water...

 

All of the boats in the BAE Boats fleet are powered by these electric motors!

A gust of wind blew my uncle's hat right off his head while we were having lunch at the dock, so my cousin and her husband had to hop in one of their boats and rescue it...

I only got it because I drive to Watertown MA about 6-10 times a year for my second job (Board Of Directors meeting) and Massachusetts did away with staffed toll booths. I could also pay as I go by getting billed in the mail but that's a pain in the ass or get off the highway to avoid the tolls which is a bigger pain in the ass.

This beauty is docked next the BAE Boats office; I have no idea what year she is or who built her, nor do I know if she even runs, but the owner rents it out on AirBnB. The boat has electricity and a bathroom, and you can spend the night on it! A sushi chef will even come to the boat and make dinner for you while you watch, if you wish!

 

I have to say this is my favorite of the bunch so far. Your Aunt and Uncle have a food fleet. But there is something o out old ships I’ve always been fascinated by.
