I do not know what specific seal was used. I couldn't find the exact one to do it myself so I had my local ARE dealership replace it for me It wasn't an easy job either, they ended up having to take the entire back window off the hinges to replace it.

Took a little over a year to find a black long bed cap at a good price, but i finally found one, for...... $500!! I was getting very close to pulling the trigger on a GFC but glad I waited. Saved myself a cool $8,000. Id prefer one with flip up windows to access gear when camping but at this price point I won't be picky. What do you guys think ?

Hell of a deal and looks amazing. Wonder how much $$$ it would take to have windoors installed

Looks great!!! You can buy Windoors but they probably close to $500 a piece, just a guess.

I looked into at the beginning of the summer. The local cap places wanted between $500-$530 per window installed for sliders here in NJ. I can only imagine windoors would be a bit more.

Didn’t even know that was an option! And thank you! I was super happy to find it. Hardest part was having to drive about 8 hours round trip to pick it up. Worth it I think :)

Anyone have advice on racks for skis which would work for 3rd gen short bed inside the bed / under the shell? I realize I can do roof racks but I was thinking something more like MESO’s hex rack on the inside to mount something upside down. Or an easy to remove pair of crossbars on the bed rails (since I often transport dogs)

my default setup isn’t bad, dividers to keep gear up off the bed mat and just stuff skis and boots underneath so they can melt off the snow without making a big soupy mess. That might make the most sense really.

This is a sick setup. How much weight can you get on top of the cap? I've been leaning towards an all metal cap for the load rating but the fiberglass ones match the body so well.

    Thanks man!

I have the non-HD version of the cap and they refused to even estimate how much weight it can hold.

I initially planned on just using the roof racks for kayaks but we wound up switching to inflatable boats so I just put them in the bed now. I say that because I haven’t really tested out the roof racks with any super heavy. They do seem very sturdy and I think if you go on ARE’s website they may list the load capacity for the HD caps.

They claim 550 lbs -- but only if you use their two cross bars. I personally want tracks so I can put on an Alurack for lumber. They don't give a weight rating for tracks but I feel like it's got to be pretty good with that aluminum skeleton.

Yeah I’m sure if you get the HD shell you would probably have to really try to break it on purpose. Those things are sturdy as hell.

Best $200 I’ve spent in while. I love the look of these cheaper aluminum caps.
