Looks a bit different. Shorter mount? Water added?

See above. Also, I believe 24 had multiple engines where 7 had one.

Just drove by Pad A before lunch, they are WFO on the tower. Pretty impressive structure. Interested in seeing if the supports/tank to the west of the tower is for methane/RP1 or water for sound suppression.

Mary had a still image of S24 firing that was *chef's kiss*
Yes, shorter mount and 2 Raptors at once.

That both seems and looks unwise for static or any other fire tests, too much back splash. The shortness, the multiples just exacerbate it.

Didn’t they do static fires on the test stands leading up to S15?

I mean, it was still probably 50' up off the ground, it just looks shorter because we're used to looking at the OLM, not the Test Stand.

Maybe we should have @Hunterdc1 confirm this just to be sure?

X just added two launch dates to our calendar yesterday 8/20 and 8/26, one is Starlink 4-27 not sure on the other. Speculation is that X would take precedence over SLS if X were to conveniently scrub in the days before Aug 29th pushing SLS down the line. My brass thinks Nasa bumps X off of those dates to clear the way for SLS. Space games. Standby. :bikewheelie:

I guess it also happens on landing so there’s value in learning whether it can be tolerated.

Yeah, not really a good way to test your tiles unless you try to vibrate them off.

Why is the nomenclature different for 39A/B and 40 & 41? Or did he just not add the "space" before "launch complexes"

The OLM is probably around 20 meters but the test mount looks barely 10 if even that. Just scaling from the 9 meter diameter of the two ships.

I'm not an expert but from what I can gather, 39 A, B and C are NASA pads accessible by the causeway going out to them. 39 C has not been developed. 39 A is currently under lease to SpaceX for something like 20 years. Space Launch Complexes (SLC) 40 and 41 are operated by the US Space Force through Space Launch Delta (SLD) 45.

    SLD 30 operates Vandenberg.
