The holes in this grapple attachment does not offer enough protection to my Oranges, I had the neighbors ranch hand add some heavy plate to block the holes.

It seems that hooptie lawn tractor wants to mess with me, and it was winning last night. it was a really hard start followed by on/off rough running. Maybe the left over 2 stroke gas didn't mix too well with the fresh 91 octane that went into the tank. Anywho, about 1/2 way done with the back yard and it just shut off. No starting, not even turning over. I raised the seat and gave the stupid sensor a good smack and it cranked over. It restarted, so I go to engage the lever to make the blade spin and it shut off, no cranking. I put the lever back into the "not spinning" position, it cranked and started, stalling as soon as I moved the blade engagement lever. I popped the hood, removed the gas tank to reach the stupid switch, pulled off the harness and made some jumper wires from paper clips.



The 1st attempt I must have got the jumpers wrong because as soon as I turned the key, I heard the distinctive "pop" sound of a fuse...

I cooked a 20 amp fuse. I spent the next 45 minutes trying to find the 200 count pack of fuses that I KNOW that I own.. it's not where it's supposed to be and I have no idea where I moved them to, so I used the emergency 150 amp fuse...



I wasn't crazy about doing this, but I was determined to get the back yard finished. It started and ran good enough to finish the back yard in total darkness, the whole time while I'm cursing this piece of shit..

I get home today with a new box of fusesI get a new 20 amp'er in there, and decided to raise the gas tank a bit to help with the gravity feed, as the kohler in there has a carb that sits much higher then the Briggs that once resided under the hood. It seems to help little bit.



It will still starve on a really off angle side hill cut. Maybe I need an electric fuel pump to help out. I really don't want to spend much more time squeezing more life out of this turd.

Anyone thinking about a cheaper stump grinder for your tractor, check out the woodland mills wg24. I had 2 large maple stumps that were at least 5’, and it probably took about 3 hours to get rid of them. I used a backhoe before, and it leaves a mess to clean up when your done.

I built one on an old trailer frame several years ago, works like a champ and easy to move.

 

Nice! I built it on a trailer so I could move it around. I no longer have to move it or relocate it, or mess with any deer lease or family land drama BS anymore, cause I bought my own farm.

 

anyone have a recipe for fixing wallered out wheel bolt holes. I just found these and am kinda annoyed I never saw it earlier.

 

That looks like a lot of labor to do a decent fix...
I would probably take the lazy way and replace it.

 

Add some hot glue and a plate and re-drill the hole?

 

I'm leaning towards finding some extra thick 1/2" washers, running the nuts down on them then welding the washers to the wheel.

Never done it before, so appreciate any feed back.

 

That was my first thought but it’ll prob wear fast and groove the bolt as well.
