Should I upgrade suspension for a move?

    ‘16 TRD Sport with no mods to the existing suspension & planning to travel 2,300 mi. I would assume for worst case a loaded w/furniture 6x12 Uhaul cargo trailer and loaded truck. My concern is the ride for the trip and a potentially squatted truck.

    It’s likely the stock suspension would be fine, but if there’s some relatively low cost upgrade option I should consider I would like to hear about it, as I don’t have much experience with suspension upgrades. Thank you all in advance.

    If the truck bed will be fully loaded as well as the trailer then a pair of airbags may not be a bad idea on the stock suspension. That will give you the added support you need for the extra weight. Otherwise the whole experience will be over in a few days and your stock suspension can probably handle it

    Thanks. Looks like a good solution - though in my research a comparable, slightly cheaper option are these sumo springs, which I may end up going with.

    I'd throw on Archive Garage Hammer Hangers and high clear cross tube if you can budget it.

    Took all the sway and "tail wags the dog" out of towing for me and reduced take off shudder almost completely.

    I used to keep it at 60 or below when towing and it felt vague and wondery the whole time (yes trailer was loaded properly with good tongue weight and heavier up front) and now the truck hardly knows the trailer is there at all unless I'm trying to accelerate.

    Why not rent a Uhaul truck to load up with and tow the Tacoma behind it? Less work, less wear and tear on your personal vehicle also.

    Dude. I have a 17’ double cab with 2.5 king coilovers and smoothies in the rear. Stock leaf springs. 16” wheels on 33” tires. 2 years ago I loaded up a 6x12 uhaul trailer, packed to the brim, and hauled ass from Southern California to Ohio. 75-80 mph for 13 hours straight everyday. Sure she squatted, but who cares? The truck kicked ass and I barely felt the trailer. You’ll be fine. Load her up and truck em.

    I know the truck will be fine. I’m looking for an excuse to buy an upgrade and incrementally improve something I’ve noticed when pulling boats and wanted to address prior to a longer drive. But you’re absolutely right.
