Motors can be an internal combustion engine.

It's not an engine it's a motor! That was my point! If some thing had chronic engine problems the likely hood of selling them would be slim. The manufactures test run these things to death just to see what they can break then take it apart to find out why.

This is ridiculous. I'm mad bc my warranty expired and they won't pay for it? Wtf. Entitled much? It's part of the game of owning a vehicle, shit happens.

Not all motors run on electricity. Electric motors run on electricity.

    An engine IS a motor...
A motor is not necessarily an engine

    @Taco Tyrant

Let’s find out what percent of members here have had some sort of major engine failure/repair. To make this clear, anything like a head coming off to full replacement.

I will start a thread and link it here. I’m generally interested in the results. I will need your help though and tag me when you fine someone that may not have posted in the thread.

I also do not want to be the bad guy, but we have a site to manage. Name calling and what not will not end well. Give the OP a little break and a little compassion. We also don't need to call out members with other makes/models. @Taco Tyrant, I will clean up some of your comments as well. You are being given a bit of rope here.....

Not sure about most of you, but I for one would be pretty upset on a two year old truck needing a replacement motor already. To put some icing on the cake, he now has to deal with a used mystery motor that had 55K miles on it AND could have the same problem relatively soon again.

Post up pics in the white thread it could be the same thing.

I'd wrap mine neon green but I hear that it fades/peels in sunshine or heat.

No problem...I just want to keep this thread going and can feel your pain. I had a similar problem on a Dodge 2500 Cummins truck and nobody had a bit of sympathy for me (cliff notes: 43K miles and the dealer wadded up my motor and they said "sue us").

If I were in this situation...Good lord. I have a 2GR-FSE with 148K miles with minimal off-road (IS350:rofl:), but it has been stuck offroad and in my driveway. If my motor shits the bed...retirement vehicle comes early I guess. IS F has always been in my sights, but the wife wants a C8 Corvette.

When you say the dealer wadded up the motor and said "sue us", curious to hear more. This sounds almost illegal on the surface.

Question about warranties. If Toyotas are do great and reliable why do they have only 60K power train warranties? A Gladiator has a 5 year 100K and Hyundais and Kia’s are all 60K basic and 100K power train. I think Hyundai needs to get into the mid and full-size truck game.

Just by specs I would deem this into the midsize class. :lalala:
    • Horsepower @ RPM
      • 281@ 5800
    • Torque @ RPM
      • 311 @ 1700-4000
    • Towing capacity (with trailer brakes, lbs.)
      • 3500 (5000 AWD)
    • Payload (lbs)
      • 1,521 (FWD) / 1,609 (AWD)
    • Maximum Load Limit / Vehicle Capacity Weight (lbs)
      • 1,411
To each their own though. :notsure:

Well the bed is tiny so I’m going to call it a mini truck.
Also it’s smaller than the Maverick and I think most people refer to that as a mini truck with the Ranger being Fords midsize.

If you're not satisfied with this, you can send a DETAILED letter to Toyota Corporate. Just be sure to elaborate on your experience and you're upset that the Toyota Tacoma had a blown engine this early in it's life. Mention you feel like Toyota should put in a brand new engine, rather than a salvaged engine with 55k on it. Toyota will contact you and the dealership to check up on what's going on and with a possible route to fix the issue. Very easy to deal with.
