Living in farm country no one even had door bells in most cases unless it was meal time people were outside.

Then you just walked in the back door and announced your arrival .

I may have become addicted to the smell of these things cooking when I was in about 6th grade.

    Substance abuse trigger...?

I had friends with creepy crawlers but I never made them myself.

I never ate Quisp or Quake either. We were into Cap’n Crunch.

Quick draw McGraw was one of my first little golden books. He never actually shot anybody, but he would change into El KaBong and smack them with his guitar.

And of course, a big hound dog howdy to all you Huckleberry fans.

I know I’m gonna sound like a real geezer but I remember when these were five cents. (Nik-o-Lok)

I do not remember mixing margarine. That was pretty much dead by the late 50s. Also I think that was only a thing in dairy states because they didn’t want it to look like butter. In other states you could buy yellow margarine.

You gotta go, you better have some coin in the pocket. I remember running across one of these as a kid on vacation back east. I had no change and had to go bad, so I pissed in a sink. :anonymous: Could you imagine these things today? Somebody would rip the door off and light the bathroom on fire.

    That was a fun toy.
And, no warnings plastered all over the box.
That would be to dangerous for an 18 year old according to the candy ass meter.

I used to make fishing lures I would mold hooks into interesting bugs.

I did manage to catch a few fish nothing to get real excited about.

Did this develop into "Incredible Edibles"?

Seems to me, it was the same molds, same heat, but the squeeze bottle mix was flavored and edible, not just non-toxic. Assorted flavors too.
Not worth it for eating, but it was all about the novelty. I'll also admit that the one I'm thinking of may not have been a Mattel product at all, but a rip-off of this toy w/ an improvement.

I like that idea of making fish lures with this! That's clever and with the right mix, may have been a great thing. If one could find the molds today, new experimentation could ensue...

Our set had the metal molds. Me and my brother would melt lead and make skeleton heads with a wire in the back to hang it or wear around neck. Still have a couple of them. Need to get one out and take a pic of it.
