It took some research and experimenting, but I was able to get a wheel I'm happy with installed. The new wheel is from a 2006 Lexus RX330 and the airbag is from a 2006 Toyota Solara.

Everything bolts together with no problems and I'm glad I was able to keep a Toyota emblem on the air bag cover. All of the controls work: volume, cruise, phone, etc. It plugged straight into the clock spring, no re-pinning wires. It just works.

I can't confirm this because I've only tried one wheel so far, but it appears as though any lexus/toyota steering wheel with the correct buttons on the steering wheel face with 10 pin, 4 pin, and airbag ground plugs could potentially work. Further research probably required.

As a second option, I ordered a wheel and airbag from a 2011 Lexus ES350 in a different color than what's on there now to see if I like it any better. I can post an update when that comes in and see if that setup works as well. I imagine it will.

Thanks! Sick build btw. I've often thought about piecing together a turbo kit for my 4 banger. These trucks must be way more fun with some boost!

I don't think Toyota has ever changed their steering column splines so pretty much any Toyota/Lexus/Scion wheel should fit. No guarantees on the buttons working or the harnesses matching.

What turbos are people using for these? I helped a friend turbo a different, smaller motor and we ended up going with a Garrett GT2860. But our motors have pretty massive displacements compared to other 4 cyl engines.

    Nicely done, @t1m829.

I have a similar wheel (but in the darker, more mahogany-ish wood) from my 2008 RX350. It has a little-fingernail-sized chip in the varnish on the rim, which somehow happened when a Lexus tech who sometimes works privately on my car changed instrument panels. I found a better one and now this original needs to find a new home.

It's needed to find a new home for over a year now, in fact. Perhaps someone who's interested in this mod can use it. I'll put it on the Gen 2 BST for notalot. Includes buttons but not airbag. Good/very good condition overall but for that piece of missing varnish.

They both used BW EFR turbos. The one member on here has the 7168 I think. That is @BassAckwards

It is in his build thread.

I got another wheel here and I think I'll keep the current one installed but I figured I'd share this other wheel and air bag here and see if anyone would be interested in running it in their taco.

That was a different guy haha. I'm op. This one is unrelated to the 2008 rx350 wheel mentioned earlier in the thread.

Appreciate you OP for treading possibly deep (waters/cash) in doing this.

Makes me recall the olden days of the Civics and Integras and we would swap just the leather wrapped segment of an Integra wheel into an EG Civic. Then we found hub adapters and Momo/Sparco took over.

Makes me wanna try and find a Lexus RX cheap Chinese copy of a wheel in the almost black wood look.
I have an old 100 Series LC and quite a few owners have swapped in these cheaper Lexus type wheels for the worn out leather of their OEM wheels.
