Where Have You Off-Roaded Today? 3rd Gen

Did a section of Enchanted Rockies Trail (segments 6-9) over the weekend. Rainy the first couple of days (so not many pictures), and it was pretty mild terrain overall (the first segments were a bit more demanding than the later ones, but the main challenge was the weather and impact it had on the trails).
Started in the Sand Dunes:
Many water crossings going up Medano Pass (rains were expected, so moved quickly as there were flash flood warnings):
The flash flood warnings definitely had me on alert as I made it past Medano Pass and continued on a multitude of forest service roads:
And on the next day, roads were easier (both maintained and weather wasn't a challenge), and the views were great

Willow Jeep Trail in Lake Arrowhead. A bit more rocky and rutted than I thought. But great overall trail to have fun on. We end up getting some rain towards the end that made for a fun time.

Exploring 3 new small lakes today. One looks good for my belly boat (no spot to launch anything bigger), and the other 2 will only be good for ice fishing. No shoreline to launch even a belly boat, so have to wait for ice over to fish those ones. Lumpy road on one of them, 1 hour to drive 4 miles.

45mph wind pushed me out for the day. I hate having to chainsaw my way out so leaving is best when it picks up fast like it did yesterday. In BC when you are on a 4x4 route, there is zero maintenance other than what you are prepared to do yourself. Only maintenance is on roads that access provincial or regional parks, and I never go to those busy spots. Active logging and mining crews will keep their main roads open but not side trails to remote lakes. Lots of opportunity to practice your Paul Bunyan skills.

Took a trip earlier up to Colorado Springs, to Silverton/Stony Pass, then out Ophir Pass.

Yup, that’s the west side of Ophir Pass.

 

Is this one way? If no what if someone comes the other way?

 

Nope, haha. There are a few spots to pull over if I remember right. Just gotta keep your eyes peeled. I lucked out though and didn’t have to negotiate that.
