Ok I have a question and I’ve been looking for a few day with no luck.
Has anyone swapped a Chevy 1500 rear axle in a Tacoma
The reason I ask is the bolt pattern is the same, you can get them with the g80 locker and disk brakes.
The only thing is what is the width difference between the two axles. I already run 1.25” spacer to run 285s. My elock Actuator don’t work. Didn’t know if it’s worth it.

    Disk brakes $600
    Elocker to manual conversion $500
    4.10 gears $500
    Plus labor $$$$

Snagged a Maxi Trac awning from Napa. These things have been sold out for a while. I checked every day for a month hoping to find them in stock. Yesterday I timed it just right and my local store had a few in stock. Worker at the store said I was lucky because they found a few in back. They sold out in minutes. Word is, this is the same one as the ARB that runs about $400. I got this for $130. I made some extra brackets tonight and will install tomorrow. It’s a 8x8 awning.

Oh hey, good call. I just checked my local NAPA and they had them in stock for same day delivery. I ordered one with a 10% off coupon, it should be here later today. Now I need to look at an actual roof rack for the AC - I keep putting it off because I like driving 80mph on the highway when I can, and fear the wind noise will out-perform the two layers of deadening on the roof.

Nice! Best bang for your buck awning. Others in this price range are at most 4x6 from what I found. That much sound deadening? You're good. I barely notice the noise on the freeway.

I know plenty of people swap in 1 tons but to swap in a 1500 axle you would effectively be doing all the same fab work with none of the added strength of a 10"ish ring and big pinion so I'd say it's probably not worth it over 1 tons. Plus unless Chevy uses the same rear ratio you'ed be regearing it or your front to match it assuming it's even possible.

Also the Chevy's while they use the same wheel bolt pattern are lug centric flanges not hub centric flanges so you may have wheel fitment issues or balancing issues unless you had custom shafts turned and at that point you've done everything to swap in a one ton, same time and money sunk with negligible benefit.

About guaranteed it's cheaper to fix what you got already if you have a E-locker 3rd (it's usually the electric motor assembly which I have rebuilt some before) but if you wanted to try look up the WMS (wheel mounting surface) width dimension for whichever axle you're considering.

Put on a new tonneau cover from truxedo today. I had a hard cover with struts that came with the truck but it was impractical. I loved the look but couldn’t haul anything.

I’m picking some 8’ 2x4’s on Sunday, any advice for securing them in the bed?

I need to get some more tie down points for the back bed floor. Which should I order?

Go with vinyl. Easier to switch back if you don't like it.

Put in some dual colour Meso map and dome lights. Also threw on some spotter mirrors.

was going to put on some VLED footwell lights, but apparently Mesos and VLEDS don’t work together….
