Next on my list of parts to replace...front wheel bearings.

What are some quality, but not bank-buster, pre-pressed hubs out there?

How about ones more readily available on Rockauto or Amazon?

05Taco4x4 shipped mine quite quickly even with my special order of adding ARP studs.

Honestly I would go with his service.

He uses doorman hubs but an OEM NSK or SKF (I forget which) bearing but OEM is honestly going to be the best and longest lasting.

Don't forget to change your knuckle CV seals too!

Just did mine from 05Taco4x4 about 3 weeks ago.

Change the whole hub, you don't want to try pressing in and out bearings, especially not without proper dies, 05Taco4x4 has them.

I did my passenger side a couple of months ago and still need to do the driver side. I was thinking about doing it this evening but am now reconsidering. We went to Minot, ND last week for my daughter's AF promotion to Captain and it took us 18 hours to get home Tuesday. I think I'm still dragging a little from that.
I just ordered a set of Beck Arnleys from RockAuto. Time will tell how they hold up but I'm not hard on stuff so I may be a bad data point. I'm currently at 133,000 miles and still on the stock unit for the one that I haven't changed yet.

Just be aware that there are plenty of fake Koyo (and other quality brand) bearings on eBay. They may say Koyo, but you never know what you're getting.

I got about 15k on my Beck Arnley so far.
It’s not that I didn’t want to buy form 05Taco, it was because I had bought “expensive” hubs from a now banned forum member here that used NSK. So I figured I’d see how “cheap” ones hold up.

For all I know, maybe my truck has decided to eat hubs?

DuraGo 29594446 Hub Assembly. I got the components a la carte and have about 40K trouble free miles on them, but will get the assembled units next time.

How did you guys get your axle nut off? I tried to get it off with the impact and it just spun the hub. Looks to be pretty rusty

I was thinking of putting the wheel back on without the grease cap or wheel cap and lowering the truck so I can use the ground to counter my torqueing of the bolt

@tacoman45 I used a small pry bar, about two feet long, to hold the axle in place. You run the bar threw two wheel studs.

10-4 I'll try that. I was also thinking of putting the truck in 4WD and jacking up only one side.

@tacoman45 I think I saw that tip on South Main Auto. I was surprised it didn't damage the bolts or the threads. It did move the car a tiny bit so make sure front end is solidly resting on jacks.

I engaged 4WD before breaking the axle nut loose. It came loose easier than I expected. I switched it out of 4WD while working on it but had my wife come out and step on the brake when I did he final torque.

    Ones you got through 05Taco4x4?

Did you replace your knuckle seals with OEM?

I don't know if it will help but I packed the empty spaces in the bearings with the same multipurpose grease I use in my drive shaft to hopefully further help keep out water and debris.

    I used my impact.
But I used this setup to torque it.
You could do the same to remove it. (go the other direction) , or pull the center cap off the wheel, put the wheel back on and rest the truck on the ground. But that’s a lot of work.
