FS 29 in will be a more comfortable ride. The only down side is that the intermediate FS can be heavy. My wife's first FS 29 was a Santa Cruz Tallboy Al - weight was around 36 lb, not unmanageable and she loved it but she could feel the weight as she got better on it.
A HT 29+ may be an option as you can run bigger tires with lower pressure to soften the ride. The trade off is a bit more weight and rolling resistance than a more middle of the road HT.

Just put some 1up racks on my roof platform.
I put some old inner tubes on the arms to help with rattles and protect from scratches.

I was wondering if anyone has a more elegant solution to keep the rack quiet and scratch free when not in use?

Well, pretty much done! Everything fit up nicely. I need to tweak the gears and I think try to push the chainring a little more toward the center. It works but it’s at an awkward angle in the big gear. It’s about lined up with the 5th smallest gear which may end up being ok, we’ll see. The old brake levers had the shifters integrated so I need new levers and perches to make it operational (no brakes now).

I’m in Kentucky, but never scared to ship one on my dime!

$2500 for this decked out Ridley Noah! Medium frame. Basically new. Extremely low miles. Not big on cars around here…

Did my longest ride today 64.44 +2,201 elevation gain from 4500ft. Did a 45 miler two days ago, and another 35 miler Sunday. Signed up for my first century ride in October, followed by a project hero challenge ride . I’ll be riding as a team, two other veterans riding down the coast of Ca, starting in Santa Cruz. Since surgery and my health issues I’m good, much better
Now and coming back strong and harder. Big things are happening. Strava had a good thing going on, they sent me a custom bottle. Rode with my buddy Jerry today (Air Force vet). Bitching weather too. Anyone have the same weird seductive behavior for eating a good parfait? Lol

Looks good. Chain may be a bit too short but probably fine.

Did you try to get that inner chain ring off without pulling the crank? Usually you puzzle them over the spider.

Cool to see you reviving an old ride!

Mine rides on my topper shell rack so mine may be out of sight, out of earshot. My hinge bolt that allows for it to pivot open or shut is pretty tight so it does not move unless great force is put upon it. I actually thought of loosening it a little but now you have me thinking no.

Congrats on your rides! That’s good to stack those up together like that. Will help you build as you go.

As for the Cervelo - I have an S2 in the exact color scheme! Is that a 2011 or so??? Very nice!!!!

And good luck on your upcoming century!

its a 2011 yes!!! my buddy got all custom parts from some custom builder in ireland. today was a fucking good milestone dude. I had three trips to the VA er here in june, complications from surgery, and some seizure/hear issues. I am very proud of myself. its so much better to ride with others.

I’ve always wanted one. I feel like carbon bikes go out of style or are kind of throw aways, but Ti bikes are so timeless. I think it would be cool to get one that I keep as a thing I did with my daughter

I’m sort of wondering about the chain, I believe you’re correct so I may have to find some links. It’s a 116 which was the longest common length I could find, I’m sure I can get a longer one or some links.

I did try to snake the small gear off but it didn’t seem possible. I bought the tool specifically for this project so figured, why not?

I’m becoming a big fan of that old bike. The new drivetrain makes it very light. I have some red anodized bottle cages coming also to tie finish out the color scheme. Just needs brakes now!

If it works it works. I wouldn't lose sleep over the chain if you have no issues.

It's funny how these old bikes are so close to modern gravel bikes.

Better than the assegai it replaced....

...which isn't a fair comparison cause the side knobs were ripping off it.

This post reminded me of a sign that hangs in the LBS.

A point of humor for many post shift puff and chug sessions…if you’ve ever worked in bike retail you might “relate…”
