I’m picking some 8’ 2x4’s on Sunday, any advice for securing them in the bed? I need about 30 of them to build a shed. I have a short bed by the way. Can I haul 30 in one trip?

I need to get some more tie down points for the back bed. Which should I order?

On average each of those 2x4’s is 11 lbs, or 17 lbs if pressure treated. That range is 300-500 lbs for the 30. You are good on the bed weight capacity, if you have no other weight to account for. The tail gate capacity is, I believe, 300 lbs. You are good there also, given it will see about half the weight, at most. Your bed is about five feet long, plus a foot and a half for the tailgate. If the tailgate hangs a little low, put a 2x4 across it to help hold the weight, else the 2x4’s may tip over. Dont forget a red flag. It’s the law in some jurisdictions.

    I don’t see why you couldn’t.
I usually strap them in a bundle with ratchet straps. Then strap the bundle to bed anchors on the bed floor.

Thank you. I know I have 2 bed anchors near the tailgate but what about near the cab. How do I secure that area without anchors?

It’s hard to explain with our pictures.
But I use one strap around lumber. Then use another strap to hook on to the strap around the lumber and back to the bed cleats on the rail.

To be honest. All you need to do is make sure the lumber doesn’t slide out of the bed. Sometimes I don’t even tie off at the cab. I just tie at the back points.

Just use your judgment, you’ll be fine.
