But seriously, the day my grandma died in January 2015, I was running an errand for work. I sensed a presence in my truck, looked over, and there she was in the front seat wearing her seatbelt! This was within an hour or two of me finding out that she'd passed...

 

To give you an idea of how sudden and unexpected this was, he drove himself to the the hospital for this surgery and expected to be out by next Monday. He didn't want to wake up Helen, and the plan was for me to be dropped off at the hospital and bring his Ridgeline back this weekend.

Jim's Ridgeline is still sitting in a hospital parking garage and none of us know exactly where it is. Luckily, it is a free parking area and no fees will be accrued regardless of how long it sits. Hospital security has also been made aware of the situation so the truck won't be towed.

The only course of action available is to drive to the parking garage, repeatedly hit the key fob, and follow the honks. The plan is to pick up the Ridgeline tomorrow.

 

Their spirit will always be with us. Now, what would Jim want you to do about the car show?

 

Corvettes at Carlisle? Helen is too sad to go, and I really don't have any reason to go now either. She might not have her Corvette anymore a year from now...

They paid cash for the Corvette so she owns it outright, but she doesn't want two cars because one of them would just sit. Jim's ride is a 2017 Honda Ridgeline with AWD, also paid for in cash and with less than 40K miles. She wants to sell the Ridgeline and keep the Corvette, but I believe I've finally convinced her that a Corvette is not a suitable daily driver in Pennsylvania during the winter.

And you've got to think about logistics. I would go if she went, but she doesn't want to go and I'm not going to force her. Believe it or not, the Corvette is actually Helen's and the title is solely in her name. Jim drove when they went to Carlisle though, and Helen doesn't like driving far anymore since she's almost 80 and has arthritis.

 

From a financial standpoint, yes she can, but I don't think she wants to. She's worried that one of them will just sit and start having the issues that come with that.

 

Take the vette to the show with a for sale sign on it. It will keep her from pulling out a 2nd mortgage or 3rd.

I understand and respect that viewpoint. If it's not going to be driven then best it go to a new home. Maybe take it out for one last ride, for Jim. I know when my dad passes his garage queen is being entered into one last last car show...also he'd come back and strangle me if I sold it
