My driving has not changed. I'm about 50/50 highway, city. Did a 100 mile trip yesterday that was 80% highway and the same speeds as always, 70-75 and I came out with a 17.5 average. Definitely something going on here. I already have a good 200 miles on the tune

I'm also on the lite version and not getting quite the mpg either, despite driving easy. It sure does drive great though, always in the proper gear.
Edit: I'm on 265 tires, so I attribute some loss to that

This was my trip home from my local BJ's Wholesale last weekend. It's in-town driving but there aren't a lot of lights on this route:

I'm on 265's also. If I didn't already have the pro+ for 6 months I would be fine with this. Only difference I notice between the 2 tunes is gas mileage. Same tires, driving habits and all. Nothing has changed. Before with my 2" lift and 265/70 tires I was getting a solid 2 mpg more than with the new tune. I think I'm going back unless I'm missing something. It feels the same off the line, on the highway and everywhere almost like nothing has changed

@jjglass535 and others on the KDMAX Pro + XT Lite throttle.

As a tuner I have the privilege to try out all the tune variations in the KDMAX library.

And I have tried several starting with KDMAX 6. In my experience 1. Each truck does have a slight variation to what it prefers with tunes and throttle settings. I’ve had a 2018 and 2022 and each tolerated tunes better than others. Same tune same model trucks, engine, and transmission but one like this tune and throttle setting where the other didn’t.

    2. I’m a firm believer at this point that Normal throttle consistently provides my best mileage boost. My theory only YMMV but I believe due to less foot pressure to get rolling and then maintain speed contributes to this.

With Lite throttle it requires more pedal manipulation to get up to speed and then maintain. It slight but seem to me to be enough to downgrade my MPG’s.

A 3rd thing is I’ve had to re-flash tunes before due to the truck seemed to not perform as I knew it should. I have no answer to why that is and it’s not often but it does happen.

Recent example I tried the KDMAX Pro + XT early 6th gear variation. It would seem that would provide better MPG’s on the low land flat interstates here on the Gulf Coast.

My truck went down by 1MPG? I’m now back on the KDMAX Pro +XT Normal throttle and after one tank I’m back up to 20.8 to 21.3 driving backroads and interstate. In town driving is limited for me but MPG’s would drop if I did it more.

My truck is a 2018. What would you suggest I do ? Keep driving it, go back to pro+ or have my tuner reflash. Truck was just better before and I was hoping this would be better but that’s not the case for me

If you have run at least two tanks through it and it’s not performing like you think it should then see if your tuner can reflash.

    Is your tuner located nearby?

And I would add give the normal throttle a long term try. I really believe it provide best mileage. Of course that’s if your not goosing it at every stop light lol.

No goosing it for me. Vic has put me on more aggressive throttles before and I just couldn't get along with them. The pedal was so touchy I was spinning the wheels and getting whiplash from every stop. Now he just says you're getting the lite throttle because he knows me. Still don't understand how pro+ with lite throttle got so much better mileage

I suspect a reflash and a FULL learned value reset will help here. I had an issue in the past where I missed one of the steps in the learned value reset and the truck had some odd little issues. A reflash and a proper LVR corrected the issue.

I can’t emphasize how much I hated the way my truck shifted after a full learned value reset was done. That was several tanks of gas ago and the shifting is still not back to the smoothness it had before. It is very slowly improving but I wouldn’t do it again myself. Try having it reflashed first. Resetting the learned values is an absolute last resort in my book.

I do a full LVR on every truck I flash every time (unless it's a throttle setting change). I have not heard this feedback before. I do warn everyone it takes a few tanks to settle in.

I have noticed that some Tacomas for whatever reason, are way more finicky than most. I don't have an explanation for it.

Try driving slower like 65 to 60 mph these trucks hate anything more than 70mph kills mpgs . I'm on the pro XT tune normal throttle . Not pro + or pro+XT . I'm running 315/75/16 , stock gears , and weight is over 5400 lbs and get 20+ mpg so figured I'd throw that out there 90% hwy 10% city

He said his driving has not changed from before XT. I feel like telling anyone complaining about a MPG loss to drive slower is kinda insulting, especially when they stated their driving habits have not changed.. Not saying that was your intent, but still.

You are right though. Anything over 70, and the Tacoma hates it.
