Does the clover acts like fertilizer?

He puts the manure dry nuggets he mix in. Then months later he does a manure and water mix through a garden sprayer with a hose attach.

I don't know why but his garden looks wimpy.

Sounds low on N. But hard to say.

If you are using organic type fertilizer, you are not "feeding the plants". You are growing your soil. He could be missing N-P-K. Or something else.

If your soil is healthy you will grow a NICE garden. You can't just plant some seed and start feeding the starts randomly and then not feed them them feed them.............and expect instant green nice growth.

All I know is build the soil. Period. Sure some plants need some extras. We give our tomatoes extra calcium and magnesium and holee fuk they love it.

 

Talked to another guy here they said they got hit hard with blight also. He didnt really know what it was but sounds the same.

 

I never seen him actually do anything. He says he uses lime, manure, sometimes Miracle Gro.

Then when he get lazy the weeds outgrow everything.

Yes. Green fertilizer. Quickly converted.

 

Since he's retired his yard should be spotless but it look like a junkyard.

He's lazy. Half of the garden get recycle for compost for the following season.

Does it turn into compost?

How long does Lime takes to work? I heard for grass I should lime in the Fall for the following season.

 

Clover is also nitrogen fixing like a legume they add nitrogen back to depleted soils.

 

Been on this all day, gotta trim ends and one side. Then work on walls.

 

we grow a few rhubarb plants around the yard. they are bombproof and don't get more attention than routine watering. roots can be split off and transplanted.
in europe, there is rhubarb market agriculture. the trick they use is to grow the first springtime stalks inside low light tents.
the young stalks taste best and growing first young stalks in darkness makes them more tender and sweet.
when the new shoots emerge in springtime, i’ve put a garbage can over the young plants to get a similar effect.
wife uses the large leaves to help form concrete patio stones and bird bath bowls.

Look like a giant ant mound.

When the idiot bought my neighbor house. He ask me what is it. I had to tell him about Rhubarb. He will cut it with the lawnmower but keep growing back. It's not affected by weather or drought. He try weed killer but keep on growing. He then gave up and ask me how to get rid of it. I told him to dig it up and remove the root ball. He dig it up, no more Rhubarb. He had the occasional leaf grow but it was easily taken care of.

He said the root ball was about 3ft deep. I know he was digging for awhile.

 

Absolutely. The stuff is resilient AF. Grows in the ditches lots here hence the term “hit the rhubarb”.

 

My grass can be brown from drought but the Rhubarb leaves will be green.

With the leaves toxic I didn't want to touch them. I think she said Rhubarb eaten uncooked will get really sick, on the toilet for a few days, make your tongue feel like it has pins and needles in it. She said something like this. Been awhile.
