    It has been such a long fucking day...

    12 hours ago (probably right before 1pm), I was at my mechanic getting some replacement plastic clips for my rear wheel well liner, and I had no idea that my friend was gone. According to the time stamp on my recent calls, I called my mom in tears from Jim and Helen's house at 1:25pm to tell her that Jim had died. I don't think my heart and soul have quite caught up with my brain in terms of fully processing that Jim is gone...

    Much love Charlie. Never easy of course.

    I drove a 2013 or 14 (my brother in law's) a couple of times last year after his knee surgery. Drove fine to me.

    The newer ones have an 8 spd. I figured it would hunt for gears a lot. Nope. Honda did a good job on the transmission.

    Except for Eco mode. I got worse mpg with eco mode. want from 23.6 to 23 mpg. And that was 3 tanks full. So I’d say that was good enough to call it worse.

    Normal mode is 23.6 all day every day.
    Best so far is 24 mpg

    So, Jim went into surgery at 6:30am on Thursday morning. The procedure itself was a success, as it only required three incisions to remove the affected section of his left lung. Jim apparently came out of anesthesia at some point but not for very long, and they kept him in the OR because he was too unstable to move (but he wasn't in danger of dying at first). He went into cardiac arrest at 11:30, and Helen called at 1pm and couldn't get ahold of anybody. She finally found out what happened well into that afternoon and that they were still working on him.

    I was under the impression that they'd tried to defibrillate Jim and couldn't bring him back, but they they actually opened him up, the doctor was massaging his heart, and they didn't stop resuscitation efforts until 9pm or so.

    I didn't ask Helen when she learned of Jim's passing, but I showed up at their house just after 1pm on Friday to check up on Helen, unaware of what had happened and thinking that Jim was alive and recovering in the hospital.

    I’m sorry for your loss. My mom passed away a few months ago from lung cancer. She was only 57. It’s a really crappy feeling. My thoughts are with you and everyone else that cared about him.

    That will go pretty quick if she decides to sell. If it was a 2006 or newer Z06…..

    Remember that Z06 in PA I sent you with 750 miles on it. Retirement almost came early.

    Would you have driven it or preserved it? Helen's had just over 43K on it the last time I rode in it, which October 2021; I'm pretty sure it's still under 45K...

    I would build it. Heads/cam, full bolt ons, E-85 tune and track it as much as possible. :anonymous:

    You wouldn't rip the A/C and other creature comforts out like in the Jeep, would you?!?!

    No, of course not. There is a big difference from a sports car and dedicated track car. My wife only drove the old corvette once, maybe went on a couple dates in it. My 3 year old (at the time) was always in that car. She would wash it and everything….well only about 3’ from the ground. Man she has really grown since then.

    @ColoradoTJ
    @wilcam47

    I know that vehicles can't actually feel pain, but if they could, my truck probably felt the same after getting nailed in the passenger door by that metal pipe last February as I felt when Helen told me that Jim had died. That is the best way to describe it, as I was literally in so much shock that I staggered backward on the porch as if an unseen force had punched me in the gut...

    Does "E-85 tune" mean that you can run it on ethanol?
