How bad is it with the cover attached? The sides might not be visible at all. The top is a different story. You'll probably have to put something up there to fill the gap.

It's got about 1/4" on the sides. I was considering just putting some mud and calling it a day.

Each of them moves a very small amount, 10 degrees at most.

Man, the package didn't contain the tank ball valve! Of course I didn't check to ensure I received all the components prior to starting installation so now I have a bucket under the drain hole lol. Hopefully they come through with one quickly!

Can you work them loose? Is there a spring lock? Maybe the screw that hold the handle on is too tight?

Years ago at a previous job making end of the (12 hour) day rounds and come to the boiler room door --- there is water coming under the door...

There is about 2" of water on the floor, floor drains barely keeping up. Through the steam we can see a pipe had broken about 12 feet off the floor and is blowing hot water across the room.

Well, the old guy I worked with surveys the situation about 15 seconds without saying a word. Finally he turns to me and says "..if we pace ourselves we can make this last until the end of the shift.." 4 hours later we clocked out.

Reminds me of refillin’ the Boiler chemical batch tank then gettin’ called away or forgetting. Coming back to the flood of shame. Almost a rite of passage. Everybody does it once. :anonymous:

I worked them back and forth a bit, but I didn't want to do too much and turn a simple maintenance task into a Saturday call to a plumber. There was no spring tension - I tried pushing in and pulling out - and I even took the handle off and put it back on.

I think I'll have to have a plumber come out and replace them. Valves get stuck sometimes.

Yeah that's the part where I take a quick DIY job and turn it into a Saturday plumber call that I'm trying to avoid.

I’ve freed ‘em up doin’ that but that style of valve I would not recommend force whatsoever.

I just noticed you have galvanized nipples between the flex pipe and the valves. Hopefully your plumber can replace those too.

Good Eye. Yup, swap that shit out. Like a time bomb. Dissimilar metals combined with heat is not a good thing.

Could be a contributing factor for why the valves are stuck.
